My twocents Get rid of those leaves. Get rid of that country blue on the mantel. It doesn't go w/ the pumpkin color. That deep red candle thing is good once you get your colors worked out.

Remember, a room will have four colors in a palette. One primary color and two main accent colors. And a fourth, very minor color too. Example:

Primary: Pumpkin
Secondary A: Olive Green
Secondary B: Deep Golden Yellow
Minor: Apple Skin or Burnt Red

or
Primary: Pumpkin
Secondary A: Light Sky Blue
Secondary B: Crisp White
Minor: Chocolate Brown

The minor color can be used in that candle holder, or a couple of them. Or perhaps even one throw pillow. The Secondary colors can be anything from the furniture (like a slip cover), a throw or two, bigger throw pillows on the couch, the colors in a piece of art for the wall, an area rug (which definitely establishes a color palette for any room). The main color will be the wall paint and/or the furniture, depending which way you go.

Once you get your primary, find your two secondary colors, then find that pop of a fourth color. The fourth color in the room should be like ink splatters on a page. Just spots of it here and there, not too much, because you don't want it competing w/ the other colors.

Shorty's picture of the diner is a perfect example.

Primary: Pumpkin
Secondary A: Olive Green
Secondary B: Golden Yellow (in the tile and on the walls)
Minor: Off white in the tiles.

Yeah the fall leaves thing is a temp - not a problem

The blue of the Mantle is staying

Yellow is out

The Red candle is part of the Yule decorations - I have chocolate brown as trim on the other small pumpkin wall

Thanx for the info and suggestions rose

greens or warm browns would look nice. Maybe a flux finish on 2 of the facing walls of said dark green or brown.

I would avoid Blues as I never liked using the complementary colors together.

oh and those blinds have to go!!!

I just hate faux finishes. It's tacky, imo of course.

I tend to agree, but, if you do it right, pick just the right color and do not over do it they can look amazing. Most of the time people do not have the correct tools or paint colors or types to pull it off well.

The paint looks great.
The painting is hung a bit high on there. Do you have something slightly bigger for that space? boxed

There is almost as much room/space/paint above the painting ( just doesn't showin that pic ) ... hmmm I guess I could lower it a inch or so ...

It might be more size than the height it's hung at for me. Equal amounts of space above and below is not necessarily the way to figure out how high to hang art. wink

But...There is no set rule.hug

I love it all too

I may not agree or even understand it but I asked for input so I have no issues with accepting it "gracefully"

what exactly do you mean with that ? I'm not sure I understand ...
