In this case green is NOT right you need a cool to complement the warm or a cool green like, marysharons. thats just my preference. a yellow green would make me go mad along with the yellow in the pumpkin. the cool green that marysharon picked will make the pumpkin feel more jewel toned. And every room needs a touch of black to ground it. That.

I'm dizzy.
I have a hard time with stuff like this unless it's hands on. Even when I paint in the studio I pick and combine colors intuitively, rather than all planned out.I seldom think about what colors go with what (color theorists would hate me) but rather go with what feels right by trial and error.

ZombieKitten said: ernestsewell said: That's a good choice too. The dark brown and light blue with some white is a very popular and modern looking scheme. A bit of alteration w/ the pumpkin is good too. Almost gives it a very modern middle eastern feel. actually that's a good place to go look: morocco style curtain colour in green Mach Oooo, Oooooo, Oooooo, I love that "green"- blue (sort of turquoise) door with the "pumpkin" colored background! That's prutty... [Edited 1/6/10 4:21am]

whenever you match colors you just have to look at nature and see
what's usually surrounding the color you go for. with pumpkins, you'd go for the leaves and such on the pumpkin strands. that's the way i decorated my house anyway, i don't like bright unnatural colours. if it's earth and plant tones, it usually just fits together pretty well. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Mach said: My Get rid of those leaves. Get rid of that country blue on the mantel. It doesn't go w/ the pumpkin color. That deep red candle thing is good once you get your colors worked out. Remember, a room will have four colors in a palette. One primary color and two main accent colors. And a fourth, very minor color too. Example: Primary: Pumpkin Secondary A: Olive Green Secondary B: Deep Golden Yellow Minor: Apple Skin or Burnt Red or Primary: Pumpkin Secondary A: Light Sky Blue Secondary B: Crisp White Minor: Chocolate Brown The minor color can be used in that candle holder, or a couple of them. Or perhaps even one throw pillow. The Secondary colors can be anything from the furniture (like a slip cover), a throw or two, bigger throw pillows on the couch, the colors in a piece of art for the wall, an area rug (which definitely establishes a color palette for any room). The main color will be the wall paint and/or the furniture, depending which way you go. Once you get your primary, find your two secondary colors, then find that pop of a fourth color. The fourth color in the room should be like ink splatters on a page. Just spots of it here and there, not too much, because you don't want it competing w/ the other colors. Shorty's picture of the diner is a perfect example. Primary: Pumpkin Secondary A: Olive Green Secondary B: Golden Yellow (in the tile and on the walls) Minor: Off white in the tiles.
