I remember watching a hilarious episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm in which Larry and his wife are having dinner and afterwords, she wants to have drinks and desert in a another restaurant. He can't for the love of god figure out why, and they get into a dispute about it.


But I remember back in Tampa, my girlfriend and I used to do that all the time. We'd have dinner at some place we enjoyed, but we'd go get coffee and cake at one of our favorite desert places. The process of having desert is more relaxed, more fun, and just altogether whimsical than the process of having dinner. I can totally understand the reasons for doing this.

ALthough Larry's wife wanted to do it just for sake of different scenery, I would also ensure the 'other' place offered deserts or coffee that was worth going to. Why bother having that 15 piece bucket at KFC and then getting soft serve ice-cream cones at MacDonalds?

If I'm having a good time and the dessert menu is worth it I don't need to go anywhere else. But if nothing catches my eye or I just have to have the molten chocolate cake at that little dessert place across town, then I'm all about it.

It's a nice way to prolong an evening if you're having a good time/good conversation/etc.

i do it all the time. its kind of like bar hopping.

There's a nice French restaurant by my place. I love their food, but their desserts suck ass. I would always suggest going somewhere else for dessert.

but I do understand though, I love to have dessert at specific places rather than at restaurants when they just take cheesecake out of the freezers and thaw them out. When you go to a gourmet dessert place, the desserts and atmosphere is much more chic.

that's like going for a piss somewhere but baking a turd for relaxing in your own toilet.....

Ditto on the barhopping thing - going to one place for what they do best & popping to another to finish it off. Why have a half-assed dessert if there's a fabulous crepe place down the street?? Better to walk some of that food off, chill out & rejuvenate @ the dessert spot.

But I'm sure they just had to make an episode out of something It's the difference between really enjoying what you're doing on your evening out vs. just wanting to get dinner over with

If I had as much money & time as Larry David, I would spend all day going from restaurant to restaurant.

I usually am full after dinner and I like to get some fresh air & walk a bit, so I'd definitely like to walk a few blocks before getting some dessert. Driving & parking is another story.

When I was happily married to the devil we used to go to Burger King for Burgers, Jack In The Box for shakes and McDonals for fries. Yes, all in the same outing.


We were fat....very very fat.....

better restaurants have outstanding selections on all parts of the menu

most don't though.

I don't know, I'm a simple girl... dinner, drinks, and dessert at the same place is fine for me.

I'm lucky if I can afford to eat at home these days!
