Any ALMODOVAR fans out there?

I'm thinking about going to see Broken Embraces tonight. I've been a huge fan of his for a very long time.

A man writes, lives and loves in darkness. Fourteen years before, he was in a brutal car crash on the island of Lanzarote. In the accident, he lost his sight along with the love of his life, Lena.

I didn't want to read anymore so I left the description at that.

I love Almodovar, and I really dig his fascination with Penelope Cruz. I had never really been a fan of hers until I saw Volver, and then it hit me. I thought that movie was a love letter between gay men and the women they love, and it totally resonated.

I find something brilliant and wonderful in almost every Almodovar movie. His movies are so sexy and sensual. I get completely wrapped up in them.

Liked it, but not as much as Volver or La mala educación . It's typical Pedro with the twists and turns along the way and big revelations near the end.

There was one scene that referenced another Almodóvar film that I thought was cute.

I am a HUGE Almodovar fan and found Broken Embraces a little disappointing. There are still some things to enjoy though, especially Penelope Cruz, who looks absolutely stunning throughout the film.

The script is not as tight as in previous films, i think.

I´d say it´s a flawed film that is still superior to most films out there.

I've only seen Bad Education and Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down.

I've had Volver in my netflix queue forever, though. This reminded me to move it on up. smile

I remember watching Law of Desire with a very very young Antonio Banderas and totally fell in love with Almodovar. I also fell in love with actress CARMEN MAURA. AMAZING!!!! She was the mother in VOLVER.

Thanks for the review GARGANTA.

Yes, Almodovar + Maura = Total Awesomeness. I was so very happy to see them both reunited for Volver. I really hope that is not the last time, though.

I've seen nine of Pedro's films, but the earlier ones I'm finding hard to remember now. sad And many of them are out of print when I looked them up on Amazon. confused He needs a new collected box set.

I used to carry a list of his films in my wallet just in case I found a new one I hadn't seen whenever I visited Blockbuster. lol

According to the above list I've seen at least ten of his movies--Women on the Verge... and everything after except for Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down of which I've only seen bits and pieces on cable. Everything before Live Flesh I totally need to see/see again.

Aha! Hopefully someone will put the short film in some kind of compilation film. That would Rock!
