Nope.
He'll get another year at least. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

What's the point in firing Lovie, if the cheap-ass Bears front office won't hire a big-name coach?

..yet How do u miss the playoffs 3 years in a row and keep your job? Parcells did it in Dallas for 4 years. They made the playoffs but didn't win a game. He kept his job for 4 years with fewer wins than Lovie's had. [Edited 1/4/10 13:39pm]

Bears won't eat Lovie's contract, so he's here for the duration.

Fuck yeah he should be fired along with Cutler. I don't see either happening though.

What happened to Chicago this season wasn't Lovie Smith it was Matt Forte (929 yards; 4TD's). Chicago is a run first team that had no running identity.
The three teams with fewer rushing attempts than Chicago (373) are; San Francisco (371), Arizona (365) and Indianapolis (366). Only three teams rushed for fewer yards than Chicago (1,492;6 TD's); Houston (1475; 4 TD's), San Diego (1423 [but still 17 rushing TD's]), Indianapolis (1,294 [16 rushing TD's]). See this is a problem when you can't generate more running attempts ( or more likely, have no faith in your running game) than teams such as the Rams, Lions and . ... other teams, that certainly have the ball less and spent most of the season trailing their opponents. My guess is that Lovie ain't going anywhere. That's probably not the case though for Ron Turner, Bob Babich, and a whole load of assistants. My guess is that nearly all of them will be gone by the end of the month, and they're probably going to bring in Mike Martz as offensive coordinator. They will also strip Lovie of his defensive coordinator play-calling duties and hire someone to do that full-time.

Buccaneers Defense-TM- Buccaneers Jan. 4 - 8:47 pm et
The Bucs have informed head coach Raheem Morris that he will be retained in 2010. Morris' team finished 3-13, and dead last in the weak NFC South. The blame can partially be placed on a rookie QB, defensive playcalling turnover, and a (somewhat) youthful roster, but the Bucs were way worse under Morris than they ever were during Jon Gruden's tenure, ranking 28th in total offense and 27th on defense. GM Mark Dominik will have to make much better personnel decisions this offseason for the Buccaneers to be competitive in 2010. Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter YEAH! I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Here is my new song: Lovie Smith Badd Ball - The unemployment mix https://rcpt.yousendit.co...781e09b2af "We Played Badd Ball...." At first I thought this would be a cool drinking game. After think I said to me-self, hell everyone would be drunk after the first minute of this song if you had to take a sip or shot of alcohol after, "We Played Badd Ball". I would be shocked if the cheap McCasky's swallow ll million dollars that's owed to head Coach Smith. I think Lovie Smith will return. I think some of the coaches well go bye bye, like offensive coordinator Ron Turner. General Manager Angelo needs to go, he's the one that built this team. The Bears don't have the talent on the field. Period. He allowed both the offensive and defensive lines to become old and he's shown he doesn't have the talent in drafting good players in the first rounds nor the knack to keep both lines young, talented, and fresh by knowing what players to plug in when veteran players have lost a step or two.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP)—The Chicago Bears are bringing head coach Lovie Smith back for a seventh season.
But the team on Tuesday fired offensive coordinator Ron Turner and five other coaches on that side of the ball: Pep Hamilton (quarterbacks), Rob Boras (tight ends), Harry Hiestand (line), and assistants Luke Butkus and Charles London. The Bears went 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the third straight year following a Super Bowl run. Turner’s second stint as Chicago’s offensive coordinator lasted five years, but ended with the Bears ranked 23rd in yards per game and 29th in rushing.

I certainly don't follow the Bears but didn't they fire just about every coach on both sides right after the Superbowl??? Who the hell thought that was a good idea? They haven't been right since.

That would be: Lovie Smith. What was the rationale for firing the coaching staff that took you to the Superbowl?
