I also got a whole thing about feet... Then he made it clear he wasn't talking about me, because he knows I already take care of it. I think that like anything else, some people like them and some don't. But to say that we are automatically vain or insecure is unfair. When he said "nails aren't done" does he mean as if getting acrylic nails? Or natural nails polished all the time? Yes he does sound a bit vain. If that is the case, then in his theory, most men don't care about their appearance then. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I might not be a man but I have seen enough hands to know what women like on there nails some, possibly even most, but definitely not all and men couldn't give a shit I painted my nails the other day, like a dark noticeable colour. I spent the day worrying (or at the very least it crossed my mind) about a) what my partner thinks - it's out of character for me (I'm a tomboy like fauxie's missus) what changed my mind? who am I trying to impress? b) what women think - I was a little self-conscious since I didn't do such a good job painting them c) what other men think - since we went to a party, and 2 very cute guys went out of their way to spend a LOT of time talking to me (both of them, neither paid me much attention other years and it wasn't just to be polite, you know?) so I started to wonder, was the nail colour some kind of SIGNAL to them anyway, it got me thinking, hence this thread

JustErin said: What the fuck is so wrong with being high maintenance?
Or do men think someone that is high maintenance when it comes to their looks is somehow automatically high maintenance when it comes to relationships? I'm definitely high maintenance but sure as hell am not when it comes to relationships with others. that will be next my thread topic! what does this entail me and the master read an article in a newspaper weekend magazine, about how much money some women spend on their appearance. Some of them, even happily calling themselves high maintenance, spend AUS$10,000+ per year. I elbowed the master in the ribs and said lucky you found me! <$100 per year here possibly the fear is that you marry one of these and you have 2 choices pay for the upkeep or have a lady who doesn't look like that any more?

Maybe a cologne or some jewlery? For me,if I have just spoke to my baby on the tellie I must get this sexy glow and since i usually like to try to go VERY unnoticed this is very odd 4 me So is it possible you were feeling mayb something else maybe a conversation you had and you were unaware men were picking up on it....They are crafty things when they want to me.

Lemme just say...my nails are always done. But they aren't the only ones in the family that are. My man got a mani/pedi last week. No polish, of course. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. (I don't necessarily mean long talon-like nails ) I find light colors very sexy - white, pink, silver, baby blue. Dark colors no.

Just make sure the salon you go to is clean and that they follow proper protocols. I always think it's best to get a recommendation from someone you know. I've been getting mine done for over two years and have never had a problem. Hmm, not necessarily. The real cause of a nail fungus is trapped water (or other agents like bleach, dirt, old food) underneath acrylic, so if the acrylic is constantly lifting and you are constantly dealing with water (washing clothes and dishes) then your chances are greater for a fungus to form. I do agree though, that its best to pick very carefully where you go to get your nail service performed at, recommendations are best, but it also depends on how well you take care of your nails in between services also. [Edited 1/3/10 7:02am] I got a nail fungus on my toe from a salon years ago. So it's often from improper reuse and cleaning of manicure tools and the foot basin

Painting nails is like any grooming. It's better than nasty unkempt nails. But it's not that important to me. But virtually all grooming gives a person a little more self confidence and makes them a little sexier, unless it's over the top. My Legacy

It doesn't make a difference to me honestly. Like Lammastide said, really long nails with all the bells and whistles are definitely a turnOFF. Shorter nails with dark colors on someone that was clearly left of center in her style is hot only in that the entire package goes together, but on the average woman, I generally prefer lighter shades if any color at all.
Painted toenails are cute. But only if you have cute toes to begin with obviously.

Yep, there's nothing worse than BATs(Busted-Ass Toes). Painted toenails on feet that look like a raptor's is not sexy.

However, I rarely paint mine cause I hate when the polish chips This is nice if you have long slender fingers. If you have stubby chubby fingers, not as flattering.

I prefer natural, but very neat and shiny fingernails. It all depends on the woman's overall style and appearance; a transparent polish is cool, though.
However, painted toe nails are an absolute no-go.
