I love porn nails - as long as they are not too long. I keep mine like this. Wow how do you manage to type with those? Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity

I don't really find it attractive on a woman, I must admit, but that's probably because my wife is a tomboy and quite clumsy so they get all chipped and look jankity and she won't do them again or take it off for days. I think with a good shape, clean and if they've a nice natural colour they look good. MY COUSIN WORKS IN A PHARMACY AND SHE SAID THEY ENEMA'D PRANCE INTO OBLIVION WITH FENTONILS!!

My nails are always red - unless I'm doing a show. Then I get them done in pale pink or go for a french - which I hate.
Every time I go to the salon and ask for that, my nail guy looks at me like and says, "That not your color!" We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

If I wasn't so scared of getting some kind of fungus @ a nail shop, I'd get my hands & feet done every 2 weeks or so. I like that it looks all girly & shit, but I never have the patience to do it myself (unless I'm going to some event). I think painted toes are sexier than fingers...

I think you probably have a greater chance of getting nail fungus doing them yourself than at a salon. Just make sure the salon you go to is clean and that they follow proper protocols. I always think it's best to get a recommendation from someone you know. I've been getting mine done for over two years and have never had a problem. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. Ex-Moderator | I have no idea.
My finger nails are always natural (and cared for). They're a nice mid-length, not too long, not short. Occasionally I'll paint my toe nails, but it's pretty rare these days. I think my fingernails look silly with colored polish on them. I generally find long, painted nails on other women tacky, but it's all in the execution, it can be very pretty and classy as well. |

The real cause of a nail fungus is trapped water (or other agents like bleach, dirt, old food) underneath acrylic, so if the acrylic is constantly lifting and you are constantly dealing with water (washing clothes and dishes) then your chances are greater for a fungus to form. I do agree though, that its best to pick very carefully where you go to get your nail service performed at, recommendations are best, but it also depends on how well you take care of your nails in between services also. I've been going to the same nail salon for almost 10 years.
Angie switched from acrylic a long time ago. She did silk wraps for a while, but now she used gel. It is much better- feels natural. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Yeah, now I stick to an acrylic set, and then I get a gel overlay, which protects the polish/designs and they look brand new for weeks. I do nothing professionally. FWIW, I have never had an acrylic "lift." A silk wrap, yes (back in the day). But never an acrylic. Again, proper maintenance is essential. In addition to filling, my nail tech glues me every two weeks. And he'll remove a nail at the first sign it's unstable and do a new one. I'd love to go natural, but it's just not feasible for me. I have shit for nails - runs in my family. My only hope for having nice looking hands is a bi-weekly appointment at the nail salon. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. I know that sometimes gel nails (depending on the type of gel used) can actually peel off. I know, strange, but like how sometimes old acrylic can crack, the gel can actually peel off like a lee press on nail. Crazy. That's why I'm just natural for now. It's great that your person can apply acrylic that doesn't lift on your nails. I know many women who have the lifting the problem, but it's minor if you go to your nail visits on a regular basis. Do you happen to know what brand of acrylic your nail tech uses on your nails? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

IMO they firstly have to be perfectly painted and, as someone said before, the woman has to be sexy herself.

I always think it's best to get a recommendation from someone you know. I've been getting mine done for over two years and have never had a problem. I saw a bunch of reports years ago about women getting these deep wounds & fungus rashes from bacteria in the salons, probably the water they were soaking people's feet in. It stuck w/ me, I just have a thing about it though I know the chance of me actually getting something is low. Plus I would have them do my natural nails (not acrylic or wrapped), so it seems kinda dumb to pay someone for something that would take me 30 min. @ home if I just felt like it I just don't care enough
