When We Were Kings

I watched this DVD again last night. What a great movie/documentary.

You know, Ali really was/is one of the most interesting people that have ever graced this earth. One of the bravist too.

That fight with Foreman, the "rumble in the jungle" will always be considered to be one of the great moments of boxing and sport in general.

It's also amazing to see the transformation of George Foreman from the quiet, introspective guy he was then to the amiable character he has become.

Anyone else love this film? Ice?

It was a really great documentary... and a great fight! Foreman definitely changed after that!

Say what you will about Don King, but the man knows how to promote things...

Ali's poem "Me - We"

Followed by the comment:
"What a fighter, what a man"

This sums up the DVD and the respect/awe that the man is deservedly held in. Also, the way Foreman changed from the cold warrior to devoted Church man whilst Ali kept on damging himself with fight after fight makes you wonder who really won that night.

A film more about the man rather than the fighter. If you haven't seen it, you really must.

wow , gotta get that ... (didnt realize it was out on DVD)

I saw this a couple of yrs ago ... flippin channels one night ... and i couldnt turn the channels any more after it came on ... I think i watched it 2 times after that ...

speaking of Ali- my grandfather sold him two camper/buses back in the 70's , and I always remember everyone in the family commenting on what a genuine nice man the guy was ... ( I was alittle young at the time to remember)

I always thought that another great boxer would come along ... but now , i dont believe that anymore ...

And that's why he's been in the biz so long. Time after time, lawsuit after lawsuit, at the end of the day, fighters know who's gonna get them that big purse.

When We Were Kings was an amazing documentary.

Love the Doco. What really amazed me was how scary George Foreman looked back then compared to his personality today. If I was betting, on the fight, back then. I would have picked Foreman to win. He looked as scary as Tyson used to look early in his career.

Yes, it is better than the film, "Ali". "Ali" was well acted but lacked an emotional impact.
