ATTENTION GRAPHIC ARTISTS!!!!

I'm looking into buying a SNOW BOARD. I want it to be custom though. I was thinking the Dirty Mind bedsprings along with maybe the words Dirty Mind. Can anyone do this for me? I can pay.

Is it copyright infringement?

HELP!

well if you can go to the snow board shop and ask them SPECIFICALLY what they need in order to print the graphic on the board.... i can try my luck with it(i've been trying to start freelancing, this could work!)

let me know what they say!!! i'll help!!!

example of what they might need:

they may need the design on a board template, ask if they have any suggestions as to which ones...

also, make sure they're printing in 4-colour process printing (which i'm sure they are, most places do... just so i can make sure the file doesn't mess up)

aaannd file format/program would be best to work with

i don't want to make it and then they can't open/process the file sad

Yes, if you are duplicating the artwork that WB/Prince/Photographer owns.

If you do something "similar" I don't think it's considered infringement.

Usually, u can get away with doing something like this. However, u never know where the copyright police may be.

I used to do graphic design at a Kinko's and we used to get raided all of the time.

A store in my area got sued one time. This customer was in there running copies of her daughter's senior photos that were taken by a local photographer. Little did she know that the daughter of the photographer was there watching her. The photographer's daughter confronted her and they found the contact information in the school's directory. The photographer sued the lady and Kinko's for a hefty sum and the photographer ended up winning a 6 figure verdict. So, BE CAREFUL!

The company is based in Illinois, so have a back-up design that doesn't use Prince's likeness in case they deny the usage. Maybe just the bedsprings and Prince font. It won't hurt to submit the first choice, though. The decision to replicate copywritten material is on them.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

That's exactly what I wanted. The bed springs and the Dirty Mind Prince font from the back of the album.

ZombieKitten

back in the early 90s I worked for a snowboarding magazine, and I entered our competition's magazine "design a snowboard" competition, the prize being they would make it for you.

I got out my yoken markers and drew a band-aid lol

But when it came to printing it, it breached copyrights sigh and it turns out the company went bust and had no intention of honoring the contract mad so they bought me a burton off the shelf showboard pout which I sold for $650, so it was OK in the end whew but only after months and months of telephone tag dead

(band-aid skateboard)
I think many people had the same idea, it's kind of obvious lol
