what do you know about Facebook being able to censor private messages?

Apparently it filters for "abusive" content and won't let you send something unless you remove offensive item - scary!

omg

I know about this. I wanted to send one link to my friend and it just removed that link from the message hmm Strange that I could send F and other vulgar words both in English and Czech language and that's alright. Another reason why I do hate facebook.

hmmm. Never heard of that.
If I would have known that I would have blocked 7e7e or whatever that weird fucker's name is here on the org from sending me his strange and cryptic email via facebook.
Or is it that you adjust a setting and it blocks it for you based on it's rules? Or is it that you select the words to filter, like in MS Outlook? confuse

"Facebook private messages are governed by the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, which forbids communications providers from intercepting user messages, barring limited exceptions for security and valid legal orders.

While the sniffing of e-mails is not unknown — it’s how Google serves up targeted ads in Gmail and how Yahoo filters out viruses, for example — the notion that a legitimate e-mail would be not be delivered based on its content is extraordinary."

Twitter doesn't seem to censor anything - well, not automatically. I think that content is only reviewed if people complain.

I was more frightened when they tried to say that all images posted was then owned by facebook. They retracted that after an uproar, but you can bet your drunk naked ass future politician that its on file somewhere just waiting.

I remember that...facebook seems to have numerous privacy issues.
