My dog just died I am currently in the UK for a year. But I spoke to my mum today and she told me that they had to put my dog to sleep. She had a lot of problems already and she wasn't OK for the past year. She was having convulsions for 2 days and wasn't eating and no shot would help. And she was 15 (a poodle). So it was OK and I know it's better not to suffer and all. But I feel really bad now. Sorry I just had to vent somewhere

While in Basic Training during the military I discovered my cat had run away (he was never prone to do so before). I never really fully got over that.

The death of a pet is heartbreaking. I'm really sorry to hear that, however if she was in pain or having problems, she isn't anymore and is at peace.
15 years old is an excellent age for a dog, and it shows she was loved and cared for really well. I'm sure she couldn't have asked for a better life. Remember the fun times and the joy you gave each other.

My friends dog died 2 days ago.It was only 3 years old and he woke up and found her in her basket. He's gutted. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I know exactly how you feel. I still miss a dog I had when I was 9 years old, and I'm a senior citizen now. The memories will tug at your heart for years. Think of your dear pet as taking a trip to Bridge. Take care.

My parents put my dog to sleep whilst I was at a friends house. Wont forget what I found when I returned home. In all honesty I would never have him back for a second because of the pain he endured. Sure it hurts, a beautiful kind of pain. I hold memories and as a childhood companion he helped me lavish up life. Him not being here doesn't effect my outlook on life. He died a loved friend and hopefully will meet other departued loved ones when I leave this mortal coil. www.nextpowergeneration.com PS3's own NPG!

That Rainbow Bridge poem makes me cry every time I read it, it's so moving! Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... Don't know why this story tugs at my heart so much, but it does. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
