Naked man drinking coffee at home found guilty

http://www.foxnews.com/st...63,00.html

A Virginia man has been convicted of indecent exposure after prosecutors said he stood naked inside his house as a 7-year-old boy and his mother walked by.

The mother and child allegedly observed the defendant, 29-year-old Erick Williamson, first through a doorway and again through a window that had no drapes, MyFoxDC reported.

Williamson, the father of a 5-year-old, argued in court Friday that he should be free to go au naturel inside his home. But a judge agreed with prosecutors who argued Williamson's actions showed he intended to make himself visible to the pair as they walked to school along a path outside his home in October.

Williamson's arrest received national attention and spurred debate about whether someone should be subject to arrest for exposure from inside his own home.

He received only a suspended jail sentence and no fine, but still intends to appeal.

Yes the jail time was suspended and there was no fine , but if you have that indecent exposure conviction you become a registered sex offender for life.

Sucks.

It'd be one thing if dude were doing something threatening or freaky while in plain sight. But just being naked while drinking coffee?!? disbelief What exactly did he have that this mother hasn't clearly already seen up close and in-person, or that this kid himself won't have in 5-10 years?

It's just a grown man's body. Geez.

That's how heinous those laws are. they are written so broadly that totally irrelevant and innocent things get swept up into the web of Victorian villification of sex in general.

falloff

I remember hearing about this case when it first happened. I live in the DC/MD/VA area. What I want to know is if she saw the dude was naked when she walked past the door why was she still looking while she passed the window?

This reminds me of an article I read in the Red Eye newspaper. This woman was who just moved to a new area and was complaining about a sex shop that her and her daughter had to walk by in the morning. She wanted to have it removed. She had just moved to Boys town on the north side of Chicago neutral

I'm sure a lot of people walk around naked in their homes...I don't. It's in his home, unless he was at his window shaking it at her and her son.

This is ridiculous. He was in his fucking home drinking coffee!!!!!

I really really wonder about the incessant overreaction in the U.S. to what is considered normal life in many other parts of the world.

He should have gone to the court case naked in protest! lol

look, they had a trial and they found that he -as the article states- intended to be seen...if that's true, then it simply isn't the same as just being naked and drinking coffee...it's fully possible that he's a scumbag that likes to expose himself...shrug

if it had been truly innocent, I don't think the police would have wasted their time with an arrest...it all reeks of something more than an accidental or unintended exposure...

the jacksass probably gave 'em a meatspin as they walked by...

You are right, it is possible. Wasn't the lady the wife of a policeman? If so, it is also possible they went the extra mile on this.

there's all kinds of possibilites....who really knows what went down...

I think it's interesting that the court also says he intended to be seen...I just get the feeling he may have put on a bit of a show from the comfort of his own home...
