Does your DVD drive itself come out of the computer? A lot of laptops allow you to slide them out (like you would your battery). If that's possible, try popping it out, and reinserting it. Is the DVD or CD showing up in My Computer? Is it a store bought DVD, or one you made yourself? Because if you made it, maybe it was a bad burn (it happens).

Having trouble taking it out...need to remove screws. Dvd I made...none of my dvds work...they used to. On My Computer it says 0 bytes free of 4.3 Gb, but the folder is empty and it won't play.

The 0 bytes free is correct. There is no "free space" on the disk. Otherwise....hmmm.

I had a problem when my drive wouldn't show up anymore.

Do a system restore and go back 1 week and see if that works.

Is this happening with all DVDs or just one particular one?

That's happened to me before, it could just be that maybe the program that's providing your DVD codec expired.

Before you start taking your computer apart, try downloading this - www.videolan.org
