How much of a grown up are you? i'm in my mid-30s and i have lately come to the realization that many of my hobbies are a bit silly for someone my age.
at some point i should probably stop playing soccer 3 or 4 times a week, playing video games, and going out to see films based on comic books. i dunno. i do things i like but i fear i might look like an old man who is desperately trying to remain hip. anybody wanna share the childish things they still do so i won't feel so lame? everyone's a fruit & nut case

I watch cartoons, but usually this is because my nephews are watching them. I actually find some of them humorous. [Edited 12/24/09 18:57pm] Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

I'm gonna be a kid till the day I die. I play constantly. Cartoons, Sci Fi, Xbox, Wii, models, gadgets galore, electronics. My apt is more like a giant toy chest. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

My grandfather played pick-up basketball into his 70s. It was only when the doctor told him to stop because he was ruining his knees, that he developed diabetes and started a 15-year decline to his death.
To this day, my favorite thing to do if I'd had an absolutely shitty day is to come home, make fish sticks and tater tots for dinner, slip Mary Poppins into the DVD player, and get out my coloring books. I even have a crown that I wear while I do all that. I'm a grown-up most of the time, but sometimes you just gotta give yourself a break from all that. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I've been horribly grown-up lately: stocked up on car and renter's insurance, opening a retirement count, and spent a whopping $270 to frame a picture.
However, I still have a wild imagination and my reading list has made a return to old standards such as Dr. Seuss and Curious George.

There's a couple of interesting points here. I've long held the opinion that when you reach about 33, you hit a change in your life. I call it a paradigm shift. The things you once thought were so damned important just aren't anymore. You start to shift from quantity to quality in friendships, time spent with people - it seeps into many parts of your life. It's just a growing phase I think. I didn't realize it when I went through it necessarily, but a couple of years later, I realized what had happened, and was still happening through my 30's. It's not that you get old, and crotchety or anything, you just change for the better. As far as playing soccer, don't let your age dictate that. It keeps you active and that's a plus for anyone. Going to films based on comic books? Pffft, who's judging you on that? We've all seen Spiderman, X-Men, Fantastic Four, or something like that, at one point in our lives, whether it's in the CGI era of film, or the old school era like Christopher Reeve in Superman, etc. I wouldn't try to change my life based on that alone. Do what you feel is good for you. Remember, it's 30 year old men that are making those movies, not a bunch of 21 year olds. The important thing I've learned in my 30's, more than any other time, is to learn to be truly comfortable in my skin - or at least way more than I was in my 20's. I think in my 20's, I was just too "all over the map" to know who I was. It was in my 30's, that I became less selfish, I had my first relationship, and I grew up a bit. I'm 41 now and have no idea what this decade will hold, but it should be interesting. Childish things I do: I still giggle whenever someone farts out loud. I still love all things Family Guy, and Star Wars. I still put corn in my mashed potatoes before I eat either. My mom hated that, and so did my ex (although not as much). And I still scratch my balls, and sometimes I sniff my fingers...just to know I'm still good for a few more hours. I'm a clean guy, not OCD, but I don't want stank on me.....not without a few hours of naked fun preceding it. HA!

I am a grown up....but I still watch cartoons, and color in colorbooks when I am sick. I will never give up those things...no matter how old I get. Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian
