We've been in deep freeze mode up here too, but it's finally warming up a bit. It's 8 degrees currently (wind chill -11) and it's the warmest morning in about a week.

We're supposed to get back up into the 20's next week, though. woot!

But, you guys are used to this shit. Last year this time we were in the 70s/80s disbelief

We had very little precip overnight but we've had tons of accidents, highway and school closures. I'm just blessed that I don't have to leave the house to work and can roll over and go back to sleep. woot!

Mid-20's is normal this time of year, this below zero crap has got to go!

Snow, snow, and more snow. Cold as Antarctica. I was gonna say, cold as hell but that would be a contradiction in terms. lol

It's been quite cold with heavy doses of snow recently, reaching up to -16 °C (3°F) around New Year's Day, but right now it's 2°C (36°F) with a light drizzle.

there might be three flakes of snow, which means everyone is freaking out, buying up milk and bread like they gonna make french toast. they even "brined" the roads.

if they close school like they did last year, I swear I will get all in someone's ass! hmph!

In general, the winters here are milder than in Minneapolis.
I guess it's because Reykjavik is so close to the ocean,
meaning the climate is milder than it would be if Reykjavik was at the centre of the island (where there is just mountains and no people)..
The average daytime winter temperature in Reykjavik is around -1°C (31°F)
We also benefit from warm currents coming from the Mexico Gulf.

They have a 2 hour delay with school and day care. How stupid! There's no snow, no rain, it's actually kinda warm right now, and it's perfectly fine out. Sometimes the South is so retarded!! mad

I remember growing up, there was a blizzard in NY. I had to go to school in Queens....2 trains and a bus, got to school late, 1 hour later they finally decided to close school (once the bus had stop running, natch). All of us kids had to walk in the blizzard a mile to the train station to get back home. That's how we roll up North! hmph!

Hey Mach wave Did you get much snow off the latest fffffrigid blast?? We thought we might pick up a slight dusting last night, but it didn't happen. Thought about you and PurpleJedi yesterday and almost sent you both an org-note.
It's supposed to get down in the teens tonight and Sunday morning with the highs around 37. Well I hope your fireplace is stoked and keeping your family and pets toasty. Remember...think warm thoughts and you've got a friend in the other Carolina. sun

Just listening to this in fact,

Other than that, I can't remember when was the last time it was as cold for such a long period. I live in southern Finland where there are of course cold weathers during the coldest of months in the winter, but they usually don't last for more than a couple of days. This has been going on for weeks now.

It's -20C outside currently.
