Maybe I'm just like my mother. I'm never satisfied.

For the record, let it be known that I have a blessed and wonderful life.

I have a family that is healthy and happy and full of fun and life.

I have a job that pays well, doesn't kill me or drive me to drink.

And yet...

There's a place I really want to move to. Not forever, just for a few years.

Just found out that their local hospital has an opening for exactly what I do.

Why am I even looking????

I drive myself crazy.

I sometimes fantasize about bigger nicer less dusty houses, but I realise after a few months they would be just as dusty as my current house, except even MORE dusty, due to the extra m2 of surface areas a bigger house would have

I think you should apply for it. If you are offered the position, you don't have to take it.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

The place I've been looking at is about 12 miles from the coast in Washington State.

So many trees you would not believe it. Green, lots of rain, mountains, it's just beautiful.

Where I live is okay. Desert-y, very brown. Pretty mountains, not great but not horrible weather.

The air quality is shameful. Today, the air is also brown and you can taste exhaust in the air. *gag*

Why won't my family uproot, take a pay cut and move with me just for a year or so until I'm tired of the rain? Is that so much to ask???

I wouldn't put in for it if I wasn't seriously considering it. I don't like to think I'm making people on the other end work for nothing.

Plus, my hubby would think I'm ditching him to move without him and I don't need that!

Funny thing is they'd probably DIE to have my husband apply for the open job. We're both in the same line of work, but he started 13+ years ago in the field and I've only been in it about 4 so he's got tons more experience than I do, but he's already got a fantastic job here and if we move, he wants it to be to TX (no thank you).

Move. Seriously.

I've decided that if I want to go somewhere, I'll figure out the details, work like hell to get there, and then go.

I'm in Thailand because of this attitude. It works. Move.

I'm the only one in the family that doesn't see moving as a horrific uprooting.

I grew up as an Air Force Brat. We moved every couple of years. My husband lived in the same neighborhood until he was 26 and my kids have lived in this town the past 10 years (They are 16 and 12) so it's all they know.

If I didn't have others to consider, I'd move in a hot second. As it is, gotta stay put, but the area is never off my radar.
