yes, way too much. instead of computer games why not buy the kid some books...a chemistry set...things to be creative with.

What matters is what you think and feel - do you feel it's overboard ? Then it is, if you don't, then it's not
I would check in with self and trust that far more then the opinions of outsiders Merry Holidaze

ya gotta balance the inside stuff with some outside stuff... IMO a Wii AND Xbox is waaaay too much inside stuff... get that kid some kayaking lessons or a rock climbing membership...
if I had both of those I'd NEVER.LEAVE.THE.COUCH. A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon

Look if you know in your heart you did the right thing. don't worry about it. Trust me the org is no place for this kinds of advice . dig yourself and of you feel you were right about it let it flow man.

Yes, sometimes good intention and excitement get the better of us. I'm definitely guilty of this. I'd save part of that for birthday.
Also, I'd run it past your friend. If it's stuff you're doing because they can't provide, you might wanna do it in smaller doses so it's not too much of a reminder. Balance.

When you won't or can't do for them, it will cause resentment.

our son is 5 years old, he really wanted a wii for x-mas, but we got him a really cool bike instead, because he has been wanting a bike too, and we figure it's better to have something you can play with outside with your friends than be in the house in a trance with wii.
but in regards to your question, well, it's really up to you, if you think it's fine, and don't think your friend will think it's too much, then, i'm sure the kid will be on x-mas morning! i know i would, even at my old age!

my son loves that sort of stuff too! he's been asking for a magnifying glass, so we found this rock mining kit that comes with one, where you can study rocks, etc...
