Eddie Murphy dropped the ball in the late 80s.

In 1986, Eddie Murphy was the major comic in the game, but their were a bunch of other young comics tryin’ to get where he was at. Eddie formed 'the Black Pack' with these comics he’d known since the beginning of the decade. They included; his best friend Arsenio Hall, Robert Townsend, Keenen Ivoy Wayans and his younger brother Damon and Mr. Paul Mooney (and later on Chris Rock). These guys did some stuff together in the mid to late 80s', but not the whole clan together. You had duo’s in the pack who teamed up (Eddie and Arsenio; Robert and Keenen), but all of them should have put their heads together, well actually they did put their heads together somewhat.

They were guys that hung out and bounced ideas off of each other. Arsenio is quoted saying “It‘s a bunch of dudes who won’t sue each other.” In Paul Mooney’s new book, he stated "Eddie stole from Keenen and Keenen threatened to sue." Robert apparently stole a skit from Arsenio and Paul Mooney. The character Homey the Clown was stolen from Paul Mooney. Keenen threatened to sue Robert for something in 1993.

Eddie could have put either a film or a stand up special together sometime in the mid to late 80s’, it would have been huge.

Didn't Eddie Claim he was going to do another stand up movie when he reaches 50 y/o? He should have a wealth of material by now. I'd love to hear him address that tranny situation too. smile

hmmm I find it odd that someone would say this about Eddie, being the fact that he did incorporate a lot of comics and put them on the map in the late 80's. I enjoyed if not all, but definitely most that all of the comics work that was mentioned that came out in the late 80's. To me that was the best time ever when you had a great variety of african american comics doing projects.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Two years, and we'll find out. Eddie was about 50/50 with talking about himself, and talking about other people, so I wonder if the tranny situation would make it in there at all?

Eddie cold have done more, He was the most powerful in the Black Pack as the others didn't get that power until later on.

Robert hit us with his Partners of Crime specials that had the pack members, Arsenio had his shows that had the pack members and Keenen gave us In Living Color which had the pack members. Eddie did produce a special Uptown Comedy Express that had Arsenio, Robert and Chris Rock on it back in 87.
