Twenty-ten or two-thousand ten?

Which one are you planning to say?

I'm going with two-thousand ten. It sounds much better to me.

Twenty-ten sounds like a monetary amount. Also, twenty-ten is the phrase being used in association with the Olympics. For both reason I'd prefer to avoid that and go with two-thousand-ten, but I think popular vernacular's going to lean toward the former.

Yeah. I know at some point, everyone's gonna switch over to "twenty." I just don't feel ready yet.

I say two thousand and ten. Any other way is just laziness or inverted subconcious snobbery.

I just answer all of these questions by turning it back to 1900 or 1910, but this question is a little different.

It's more like, how would you say the year 1010?

Two thousand Ten sounds more clearer, it flows better, but in the 20th century we said Nineteen Ninety-One or Nineteen Seventy instead of One Thousand Nine Hundred Seventy.....so with that said, eventually it will go to be pronounced Twenty Ten or Twenty Thirty and so on.... confused But I assume people aren't going to start going to pronouncing the years with "Twenty" until the year Twenty-Twenty eek I know, I know. Just my thoughts.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Yeah, 2020 was going to be my arbitrary self-imposed deadline for making the switch. But I might cave earlier. Maybe 2015.

Did anyone call 1999 "nineteen hundred and ninety-nine"? Or one thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine? hmmm

no, but we've almost universally said two thousand nine. Strange.

But twenty ten sounds a lot more natural than twenty nine, which sounds more like 29 to me.

I think they will continue to say two thousand until it becomes 2100. When that time comes, for instance...2132.... it would be too many words to say two thousand one hundred thirty two. It would just be easier to say twenty thirty two.

2009 would have sounded natural if they had said it like they did with 1909....twenty oh nine.

The same way we've referred to every other year. No one ever said Ninteen Hundred Eighty-Seven. They said it as two numbers: 19 - 99

So.....Twenty Ten is logical.

If you click on My Org and then go under Forums, you can add a list of emoticons you use. That way, you never have to remember their names and you can just click on their picture to insert them whenever you want.
