Family Guy - Something Something Something Dark Side

The new Family Guy spoof on Star Wars (The Empire Strikes Back) comes out on DVD and BluRay on Tuesday. I couldn't resist it anymore. I had to download it tonight, and we watched it. It was a DVD rip, and was the extended version. It was 53 minutes, which means about 10 minutes of stuff might be cut out for broadcast.

LOTS more cursing in it, and even a hard on (SO funny). The whole episode was really good. I can't wait for the Return of the Jedi one, called We Have A Bad Feeling About This, due in another year or two.

Any FG fans? I was just watching Blue Harvest (A New Hope) episode the other day. It's odd because Fox is released the episode on DVD first, and it will air later on, after the first of the year, as one of the "back 9" episodes for season 8.

Gigantic steaming worthless pile of shit.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

Oh he doesn't like FG, that's why he said it. Trust me, big FG fan here, and it's even better than Blue Harvest.

Watch it and find one, just ONE genuinely funny original moment. Not some character inserted into Star Wars, not some lame side joke, a genuinely funny original moment.

I have watched it, just 30 minutes ago, which is why I started the thread. Plus I wanted to see the other FG fans on here.

It's an homage. They've referenced Star Wars so much in the past. It seemed, looking back, only natural that they'd do a spoof of it. I love their nods to science fiction, including the Star Trek: TNG episode where all TNG crew appeared as themselves, and Stewie took them out for the day. That was funny too. It's satire. It's meant to just make fun of it, and put it under a humorous microscope a bit. George Lucas sat w/ Seth MacFarlane for Blue Harvest, and only had one thing he wanted removed. (He didn't want the Jawas to be called Jewas; he didn't want to damage the brand.) It's all just in good fun. FG isn't exactly the animated War & Peace or anything.

Hell yeah, and I can't wait for this to come on TV here. I loved Blue Harvest, it was so clever and yet so like Family Guy meets Star Wars. Herbert was funny as Obe Kwan nobe and Quagmire as CP30 (Thanks for the sex early 90s printer). But will have to say Season 8 is just not as funny as earlier seasons, the best I feel so far was season 6.
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Yeah Ernest, I am not really a Star Wars fan and have a vague knowledge of some of the characters names and spellings. A bit before my time you know. I was born in 1976, Star Wars came out in 1977, I don't really follow science fiction anyway, I live in the real world. I spelt the characters name wrong as I don't know how to spell it correctly. Live with it!
I thought we would have some commonality both being Family Guy fans, but I was wrong, you just want to be cynical and antagonistic. I'll think twice before replying to one of your threads from now on.

Okay well if you're not a Star Wars fan, I'll relent. wink

And come on....real world, and we're talking about a cartoon? None of us are 100% in the real world, although we do try to keep a foot in it more times than not. hehehe Obi Wan Kenobi is this name, btw. (NO idea where George Lucas came up with those names, but it's paid his bills, that's for sure.) And think about it....we LIVE in a science fiction time! Compare things to when you were born. I'm 8 years older than you, and even in those 8 things started to change a lot. This IS science fiction. No aliens, but plenty of technology, space travel, and fun.

Speaking of fun, being cynical isn't always bad, or mean-spirited. It's called humor, and sarcasm. Don't get your knickers in a twist, because it's all in good fun.

Alright then, thats better, and yes you are 8 years older than me (I am only 33), and you live in America, so I am going to trust your opinion on these things more than I trust my own. But I just wanted to say how much I love FAMILY GUY, especially Brian and Stewie and it was good to see other people like it too, like you.

i watched this on tv about 2 weeks ago and it was ok. i love family guy
but it just wasn't that funny.

but it had it's moments. even in a bad family guy episode there are at
least 2 or 3 good jokes.

having said that, i'm not a star wars fan and haven't watched any of
those movies in full so i might have missed a lot of cool inside jokes.

I doubt you watched it on TV because it's not aired yet (it won't until 2010), and the DVD isn't out until this coming Tuesday. The DVD rip didn't leak until this week.

Are you talking about Blue Harvest, instead of this one?

"Blue Harvest" is def out on DVD here. It came as a regular DVD, and a Special Edition packaging. It included a t-shirt, a digital copy, and a lot of extra features including a pair of 3D glasses. The big tie-fighter scene was also done in red/blue 3D. Not that impressive, but fun regardless. The commentary track is good too.

Watch it and find one, just ONE genuinely funny original moment. Not some character inserted into Star Wars, not some lame side joke, a genuinely funny original moment.

(Blue Harvest only here)

1.Peter and Brian taking that grotty ass couch on their spaceship and it getting stuck in the door way
2.The early 90s printer
3.Obe wan kwanobe whatisname (4give me Ernest) speeding past Princess Leias part about the molestation)
4. Megs cameo appearance
5. Han Solos gift basket
6. Cleveland as a ghettofied R2D2 shooting the enemy spaceship sideways with a gat.
7. Luke Skywalker telling the Princess, "to rot in here for eternity you stuck up bitch"

Need more
