I was totally surprised by Iron Man. When I heard he was going to be a teenager, I thought it was going to be terrible, but it's really good, and I love the animation.

I hear you about Wolverine and the X-Men. I do love how it's tied in the Days of Future Past storyline, which is one of my favorites, and I love the Sentinels as villains. I would love to see Sentinels be used in an X-Men movie.

You're right. I was none too happy about Tony being a teenager when I first heard about it. I figured they were going to pander to the dumb kid/teenage market to say, "Hey, even YOU can be a superhero!". But to my surprise, it was excellent. Very smartly done and the animation itself was outstanding, sorta like the next step of animation after MTV's Spiderman series from a few years ago. Speaking of which, I was VERY disappointed that only lasted one season because it definitely had some real potential. Things were very well done.

I do think they've almost made Tony too smart, given how yound he is. He's created all of that stuff in a makeshift lab? Where did he get the material for Iron Man's suit? How is he able to create different types of armored suits within a couple of weeks or whatever? And, how can he be chugging that heavy ass iron suit in his backpack everywhere he goes?

Whatever happened to the supposed Black Panther series that was being developed for BET? Last I heard, it was due to be out this past fall, but that was months ago!

Iron Man has been such a pleasant surprise. I know I'm in the minority on this, but I loathe most manga and anime, and when I heard he was going to be a teen, I feared the worst, that it would be like that awful Teen Titans series, or the Legion one. But instead, it was smart and well-paced with, as you said, that outstanding animation.

That said, I really enjoy the Brave and the Bold series too. It's silly, and it's kid stuff, but it also has some really fun stuff for longtime comics fans. When they put the Robin of Earth-2 in there, I got hooked.

I wish I knew what was going on with the Black Panther series. I tried contacting their publicity department for a story I was working on separately, and I asked about Black Panther, but I kind of got the runaround, so I didn't follow up. I'm not sure what the problem is.

No, you're not the only one who doesn't care for manga or anime. The only times I liked it was with Voltron and Robotech, but as you know, that was YEARS ago. Lol!

Your Teen Titans comparison was dead on because that what I was expecting too. Don't forget Static Shock. That one belongs in the kid hero category.

I never fully got to see the entire season of The Brave and The Bold, though what I did see was interesting. Comical at times, but it was nice to see him team up with little known heroes in the DC Universe. Now that I think about it, I'll go check the torrent sites for the full season. They had a LOT to live up to, with the Bruce Timm-era Batman being so well-loved (deservedly so). The "The Batman" series that aired on KidsWB wasn't too bad either but it did take a season or two to finally get going, in my opinion.

I can talk about this stuff ALL day long, so look out! wink

biggrin I feel the same way!

I just wanted to add one quick thing about the Brave and the Bold cartoon. I enjoy it, but it's not great. Definitely doesn't live up to the Bruce Timm stuff, but it doesn't even try; it's vastly different. It's childish, but it's enjoyable too.

Static Shock I only watched a few times. I was a huge Static fan back when it debuted, and I thought all those early issues were great stuff. I really liked the constant Malcolm X/Martin Luther King discussions they would have going in those comics. So the cartoon had a lot to live up to and didn't make it.

Nothing disappointed me more than Teen Titans, though. Seeing that the first time was such a huge letdown.

I never even gave Teen Titans a chance. It was always background noise, if I had it on at all. I'll be honest and say that I never delved into Static Shock either, because it looked boring, but after seeing that Justice League Unlimited episode where they're chasing that time-traveling guy and Static was in the new, futuristic JL, I've started to think about going back and watching it.

Speaking of the JLU, was it me or did they just let ANYONE in that bad boy? I mean, who the hell is Vigilante and what separates him from any other nut shooting a gun or two? How is THAT being a "superhero"? It's like on the JLU application they asked one question, "Have you stopped any crime whatsoever at least once in your life? This crime could be jaywalking or a little kid stealing a candy bar from a store." If you answer yes, you're IN. Whoo-hoo!!

Static Shock wasn't a bad show.

I refuse to watch any Iron Man cartoon because I hate the character. If there's one Marvel superhero I loathe, it's Iron Man.

You should give this one a try. It's not bad. Of course, I don't hate the character like you do, but I went in with hardly any expectations and was very pleasantly surprised!

That was what I loved about JLU. They had license to do almost any DC character, so you got to see so many people you wouldn't otherwise. I was always a DC guy over Marvel, so it was fun for me to see so many old favorites, even if it was just a quick glance at them in the cafeteria of the satellite.

Although I'm definitely a Marvel guy, that is what I liked about JLU as well. I especially enjoyed seeing Hawk & Dove, Booster Gold, Hawkman, and, most of all, Captain Marvel. "Clash," the Captain Marvel episode, is still my all-time favorite. And seriously, how cool was it that Hawk & Dove were played by Kevin and Wayne from The Wonder Years (with their roles reversed)?

Yeah, I liked it too, but after a while, some of those guys were getting ridiculous! I'm a Marvel kinda guy myself, but I do appreciate the DC characters, mainly Supes and Batman and their rogue galleries. I always thought that the strongest hero in the DC/Marvel universe was either the Hulk (the original green, mad one) or Superman. Speaking of ol' fly boy, almost 90% of the "troubles" they had him in on JL/U could've easily been over in 5 seconds if they really let him use ALL of his powers. There should've been no way that half of those enemies could've hurt and knock him around like they did.

Green Latern should be able to kick almost everybody's ass (minus Superman), but I've only seen him have one real enemy, Sinestro. And I don't even remember them mentioning that his weakness is the color yellow (at least that's what I thought it was). I saw that recent DVD release of First Flight, and it was all right for an intro to GL, but I'm hoping they can expnd that a bit, maybe even start a new series. We are desperately in need of some Bruce Timm-affiliated animation on TV. The Wonder Woman release was just okay. I thought they did a better job of showcasing her on JL/U than anything. That whole Batman/WW possible romance was intriguing!

Yeah, that "Clash" is one of my favorite episodes too. Marvel got his ass rocked in that one! Though I have to give it up to him too. He was taking care of business too! Have you seen the new Superman & Batman DVD called "Public Enemies"? That's got more Supes vs. Captain Marvel action in it. Too bad they didn't sick Doomsday on his ass again. Lol!

Really? I had no idea about that. You're right about the Captain Marvel episode. That was one of those great comic-book moments acted out onscreen.

There's another episode from Justice League that I really love. Now I can't remember if it's from Justice League or JLU, but it was where Superman finally faced off against Darkseid. He was saying something like, "All my life I've had to hold back for fear that I'd kill someone, but I'm going to hit you with all my power." It's a great scene, and I really wish they'd do something similar in a Superman movie, instead of always making him so wimpy.

Yeah that was one of my favorite episodes too. It was the very last episode of JLU, and when I heard that, I was like, "Good!!" I always felt, like you said, they made him too weak and easily knocked around. He said to Darkseid "What we have here is a perfect opportunity to finally let loose. Because you can take it, big man!" Or something similar to that. That was when he REALLY started whoopin' his ass, though I was wondering what was taking him so long to "let loose" on him. He had to have known he would require all of that power to defeat him.

Another one of my favorites was of JL where the Justice Lords switched with the League. Seeing (or at least them describing it) Superman use his heat vision to kill Luther, kicking off the rule of the "heroes". And it was hella cool to see him use it to lobotomize Doomsday. That's the kind of shit he should've been doing all along instead of being super goodie-two shoes. Sometimes these villians need their nuts ripped off!

I found the whole X men franchise rather hollow and chaotic to the point of boredom. Really they need to do strip down version where there are only a small cast of characters that have real roles, not just here's X and his power is Y, Here's S and her power is T, etc etc etc.

I think the only saving grace of Wolverine was that it was stripped down of characters that allowed time to set up a plot and advance it.

N with Patrick Stewart not able to be in it I'm rather meh.

He could be in it if it is a prequel to the x-men films or in some form as he transported his mind to that other body in x-men 3

What I would like is a prequel with a few characters played by relatively unknown actors so you dont have the storylines being played with because certain people wont do it unless they have bigger parts etc.
