Best music CRITIC/REVIEWER in the org and why?

In no special order:

Brother915-The man could write the very BEST tribute threads. I get tempted 2 go back and buy the artists' music that he talk about such as Patrice Rushen.

DavidEye-What I love about him is he bring up the small details that nobody notice(Like the Whitney vocals in Kashif's song) and have a good backround about 4gotten artists.

Mistermaxxx-The MOST critical man in this board(in a good way lol) I'd love to have a face2face conversation with him. Plus, he have a rich knowledge about non-realesd music/music related press.

RD-Maybe not about othwer artists but he sho is the best when it comes to writing reviews about Prince's LPs(Dirty Mind, Parade and the VERY BEST REVIEW Controversy). I'd love him to write a review about the LP 4 U tho

Controversy is the bomb diggity---this is the album that Prince put his shit together and took his studio wizardry to the next level from Dirty Mind. He learned to "freak" the slow song with Do Me baby.He learned to punk funk the jam with Controversy--that opening to Controversy--wa wab--is the shit. The whole song screams of a Prince manifesto, lyric and music-wise. The chicken scratch guitar alone makes it a classic...the odd synth--the lords prayer-the grunts of "ugghs" on the back beat..the whole damn thing is the ultimate Prince song. Vintage Prince shit. Sexuality shows his new wave influence, and intoduces his trademark aoohoo scream. Do Me Baby he realized what he could actually do in a dark studio..precursor to all slow jams being freaked and an album before International Lover. Private Joy with that Linn-drum machine is ultimate pop. Very underrated. I love th e voice he uses in it especially when he says "cant get enuff cant get enuff". Lets Work, rubbery bass and razor synth that goes together and jams. This is the MN. sound. Annie Christian-anti music, Prince weirdness that
made him Prince. And driving it back home, J U Off, his rockabilly rock pre Delirious Elvis imitation. Controversy is the essence of Prince music. This is one of those records that I want to fuck. This is not music, this is a trip. Every home should have one.

Now that's serious wink

I'd add:

DavidEye's got history locked down
RD's got flava and vibe locked down
and Brent who did that amazing write up of ONA Live and the review of Xpectation/defense against jazz snobs.

I think you mean Brendan. biggrin

Brendan is the best of the conventional reviewers. Very in depth.

Rd gets the feel just right.

Davideye has a great knowledge of all music, especially 70's and 80's stuff.

Supernova also has a great musical knowledge and adds alot to discussions.

biggrin
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.
