PGA Tour Issues Statement Supporting Tiger's Decision
December 11 "We fully support Tiger's decision to step away from competitive pussy to focus on his family and tries to calm his wife down and stop getting beat up. His priorities are finally where they need to be, and we will continue to respect and honor his family's request for privacy just as we honored his demands for hoes. We look forward to Tiger's return to the PGA TOUR when he determines the time is right for him to man up."

It will take a hit in the short-term for now because they don't have Tiger to use for promotional purposes. But at this time of year, the only golf tournaments are happening in Hawaii, Australia, Dubai, or the far southern US courses in California and Florida. We'll have to wait and see if Tiger ends his indefinite hiatus a couple of weeks prior to the Masters tournament in March. If he comes back then, then the PGA won't be affected too much. But if Tiger doesn't come back by then, the PGA will have some serious financial problems.

The PGA is still reeling from Tiger's absence last year at this time (after his knee surgery), and they've also lost sponsorships because of the economy. (They still haven't found a replacement sponsor for the former Buick Open, for example.) With Tiger planning an "indefinite" leave, current sponsors may decide that the tour doesn't give them enough bang for their promotional buck and pull out. And prospective sponsors won't take the leap into sponsoring the tour until they know for sure whether Tiger will be there. The current sponsors may adopt short-term a "wait and see" attitude...but they won't wait indefinitely. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Tiger Woods taking hiatus from pussy By Tiger Woods I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children and legitimate mistresses. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I've done especially if I have HIV, but I want to do my best to try to stop chasing pussy. I would like to ask everyone, including my fans, the good pussy at my foundation, business pussy, the Pussy Tour, and my fellow competitors that were trying to chase pussy on the side and will also have to take a break until this shitstorm dies down, for their understanding. What's most important now is that my family has the time, privacy, and safe haven we will need for STD testing and healing. After much pussy searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from pussy. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and learn how to keep my shit on the down low so I won't lose half my dough. Again, I ask for privacy for my family and for these hoes to shut the hell up and I am especially grateful for all those who have offered pussy during this difficult period.

This scandal is gonna have a major impact on the entire sport. That's why this is not at all comparable to other athletes and other sports. Tiger has been the face of golf for over a decade. A-rod and others were not presented as representative of the sport's identity.

With or without Tiger they're screwed because many sponsors and their shareholders may decide it's not a good idea to back tourneys from a PR perspecitve attaching their business to thi mess. The PGA is damned if he sits out or damned if he shows up with this cloud hanging over him. Hope the pussy was worth it.

Yeah, he may have banged a bunch of skanks and cheated on his wife, and he shouldn't have cheated, but it's not like he's some kind of politician or religious cleric preaching about family values and then being a hypocrite. He's a professional athlete. And if you know anything about a great number of professional athletes, they can't keep their junk in their pants for very long. The only surprise in this regard is that the athlete with the roving eye and wayward penis is actually a golfer. If he were a baseball player with similar stats, people would hardly blink an eyelash. Derek Jeter gets tons of beautiful, high-profile ladies practically pushing their pussies in his face, and Alex Rodriguez got more negative crap over taking steroids than he did for fucking some stripper or dating Madonna. Tom Brady dumped his pregnant actress girlfriend to hook up with Gisele, and it was met with a collective yawn. The most negative words I've heard about Tony Romo dating starlets like Jessica Simpson or Carrie Underwood is that it screws up his play on the field in December. No one cares if he regularly hooks up with Hollywood starlets or goes to orgies full of porn stars as long as he wins games for the Dallas Cowboys. And don't even get started on NBA players. They make Tiger Woods' escapades look like a sanitized version of The Bachelor in comparison.
I been saying this from the beginning. Tiger's stepping out on his wife does not surprise me in the least. And no he didn't proclaim himself to be a Mr. Family Values. Just because you give a photo shoot to a magazine with your wife and kids doesn't mean than you're perfect. I always see things like that as a part of the business of being a celebrity to keep the papparazzi from hiding in trees like peeping toms outside your house to get pics of the family. But there are several things that I have disagee with on the list of names you put forth. Jeter, Romo & A-Rod are all single. Well at least A-Rod is single now, I think he was married and got caught with some fugly broad going to a strip club and his wife divorced him. But in the case of Tom Brady, agreed. That was screwed up and guys were giving him highfives which I never understood . But professioanl athletes and celebs roll like this all the time. Hell, if Tiger's messing around with 12 chicks over a period of what 6 years hell that's nothing for a pro athlete. . [Edited 12/14/09 6:32am] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Celebrity endorser: moral clauses are standard provisions in celebrity endorsement contracts and what they do is, they generally permit the sponsoring company to pull the plug on the endorsement deal if the celebrity does anything to bring him or herself into public disrepute or scandal. Of course the devil are in the details.... what provisions are in Mr. Woods moral clause. I don't think any of those companies will move to drop Woods' and really I bet they never really gave it much thought. What may happen, depending how long Woods stays out, he sponsers may wish to renegotiated their contracts. Nothing for free and if he's out a long time, I'm sure they don't want to dish out millions without getting anything in return.

This is all very true, but I think the reason people can't get over it and find it really newsworthy is that Tiger just always seemed like such a straight-laced dork. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

I think it's that he made this huge deal over presenting such a straight laced "I'm a role model" image, and it's not just cheating, per se, like he met one girl and was with her, but that he was this whole time so sneaky and dishonest and hedonistic. It's not that anyone expected him to be perfect but that he acted like he was the paragon of perfection and could do no wrong. His lies were immense. All the other athletes named never acted like they were the height of godliness like Tiger portrayed himself. It does seem like he married and had kids as a front to continue this "I am perfect Tiger Woods, hear me roar", and I think people really feel sorry for his family And then he perpetuates it with these "pity me" statements and they don't wash either.

Accenture dropped him.
Gillette isn't using his ads any more. Tag Heuer is said to have pulled all his ads from their stores. Nike is staying with him. Gatorade is staying with him. EA Sports is stuck with him. AT&T is considering its options. Haven't heard anything from American Express. Pretty much exactly what I predicted.

Though I bet Accenture dropped Woods because they didn't wanna fork over any money while he takes a leave from golf. As far as some of his sponsors pulling his ads, that's customary. They'll come back on board after the dust settles; Mr. Kobe Bryant sponsors did the same thing after his scandal. Woods sponsers that are his cash cows, they'll stick with him.
