Here's one reason why advertisers may not be lining up to hire Woods, no matter how many tournaments he wins when he comes back:
Tiger Woods' extramarital affairs could cost you if you hold stock in a company he sponsors or a mutual fund that holds stock in those companies.
A new study - not yet published in a journal - finds the market value lost to companies that had the golfer as a sponsor is already as high as $12 billion. Stango and a colleague looked at stock market returns for the 13 trading days that fell between Nov. 27, the date of the car crash that ignited the Woods' scandal, and Dec. 17, a week after Woods announced his indefinite leave from the sport. They compared the stocks to the total market and to competing stocks, plus they looked back four years to get a sense of how the stocks have historically done in comparison to the market and to competitors. The study focused on nine sponsors: Accenture; American Express; AT&T; Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf (Electronic Arts); Gillette (Proctor and Gamble); Nike; Gatorade (PepsiCo); TLC Laser Eye Centers; and Golf Digest (News Corp.). Overall, the researchers figure the scandal reduced shareholder value in the sponsor companies by 2.3 percent, or about $12 billion. "(This) pattern of losses is unlikely to stem from ordinary day-to-day variation in their stock prices," the researchers wrote. Investors in the three sports-related companies (Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf, Gatorade, and Nike) fared the worst, the study found. They experienced a 4.3-percent scandal-generated drop in stock value, equivalent to about $6 billion. On the other hand, Accenture, a global management consulting firm, experienced no ill effects following the accident. http://news.yahoo.com/s/l...tockmarket Note that Accenture was the first company to quickly and firmly dump Woods.

Arnold Palmer Invitational site drops Tiger Woods image
Posted at 9:31 AM by Rick Lipsey | Categories: Tiger Woods Getting fired or temporarily banished by sponsors like Accenture, Gillette and Tag Heuer hurts Tiger Woods in the pocket book. But getting dropped by Arnold Palmer, not only the King of golf but also the game's Mr. Nice Guy, must feel infinitely worse -- maybe like a death-blow to the ego for Woods. The King's eponymous tournament - The Arnold Palmer Invitational (March 23-26, 2010) - at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando removed Woods from the event's signature promotional banner on its Web site, See the comparison of the old and new banners stacked atop each other in this story on the Orlando Sentinel Web site. It looks like even one of his closest friends on the Tour didn't know, so I can see how Elin didn't know, either.

Padraig Harrington 'amazed' by Tiger scandal Posted at 10:54 AM by Mike Walker | Categories: Padraig Harrington , Tiger Woods Tiger Woods famously keeps to himself on Tour. He doesn't hang out in the clubhouse after a round. He comes in, does his work and leaves, and while he's admired by his fellow Tour pros, few guys actually feel close to him. Padraig Harrington is one of the handful of players close enough to Woods to be called a friend, and he told The Irish Independent newspaper that he and the other players on Tour were as shocked as anyone else by Woods's scandalous double life. "I'm amazed by the fact that I'm out on tour and knew nothing -- I'm beginning to think I must have my head in a hole, or something like that," Harrington said. On tour, Woods betrayed none of the usual signs that he was almost as relentless in his pursuit of birdies off the course as he was on it. "If somebody goes down that road, you usually can tell because of who they are talking to or hanging out with," said Harrington. "There's a bravado in it -- all that sort of stuff. That's what fellows are like. They have a few drinks and they are telling everybody about it. "Yet there was no indication whatsoever of Tiger doing that," he went on. "I just think to myself 'wow, I'm out there on tour with this guy for 10 years and, often times, Tiger himself described me as a friend, and I'd no idea this was going on in his life.'" At least he's not lonely! But is this his definition of "working on being the best husband and father I can be"?

Published: Today LOVE rat Tiger Woods has been seen partying with his alleged mistress Rachel Uchitel, it was reported last night. The golf legend has been in hiding for a month since the car crash that led to revelations he cheated on wife Elin Nordegren, 29, with several women. But sources told a US TV show that Woods, 33, and Uchitel, 34, were spotted holding hands at a party in Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday night. The show's website also reported the pair partied together the previous night at a club. Some sources told Entertainment Tonight they are living together in the Florida resort. Uchitel has been photographed in the area, but Woods has not been seen at all since the sex scandal broke. At least 11 women claim to have had flings with Woods. Earlier this month he admitted his "infidelity" and said he was taking an "indefinite break" from golf. Read more: http://www.thesun.co.uk/s...z0b6Xa0yCU

Tiger Ho # 1 Parties in Florida (Without Tiger) December 29, 2009 Whatever else she may or may not be, Rachel Uchitel is certainly no shrinking violet. Beleaguered pro golfer Tiger Woods's alleged mistress has been spotted partying hearty in the Sunshine State – with nary a hint of the scandal surrounding her. Her reported athlete beau, meanwhile? Nowhere to be seen. Drinking champagne, laughing, smoking and dancing by herself, Uchitel was spotted at the club 251 Sunrise in Palm Beach, Fla., Saturday night, apparently free of the stress that you might expect that being the most notorious "other woman" in America would bring. "We were sitting very near her table and watching her dance by herself and occasionally dance with a guy who was talking in her ear," a source tells PEOPLE of the first woman named in the Tiger Woods infidelity scandal. "The guy wore an Oxford shirt and blue blazer and was sort of dorky. He was more into her than she was to him." Uchitel, 34, a New York-based club hostess who has spent the last two weeks in Palm Beach, where her mom has a waterfront condo, came into the club with a couple of girlfriends – and left after having made at least one fan. Rachel was much prettier than I had expected after seeing photos of her," the source tells PEOPLE. "She had a great body, too." After a few hours, the source says Uchitel left the club around 2:30 a.m. "Rachel has been having a great holiday partying, shopping and sun tanning in Palm Beach," another source tells PEOPLE. "She is a personality girl out having fun in beautiful surroundings." Woods, on the other hand, has not been seen in public for weeks. Sources had previously said that Woods, 33, was going to cruise the waters off the Bahamas with friends during the holidays, but his yacht Privacy has reportedly been docked in northern Palm Beach County, Fla. One place Tiger definitely isn't: Sweden, where wife Elin Nordegren is camped out with the kids for the season. http://www.people.com/peo...68,00.html

Elin Nordegren Skiing in the Alps January 2, 2010 While the embattled Tiger Woods has, for all intents and purposes, vanished, reports have surfaced that place his wife, Elin Nordegren, in a posh French Alps ski resort as she considers her future. While saying that Nordgren, 30, has put thousands of miles between herself and her scandal-ridden husband, 34, the U.K. tabloid the Sun reports that Nordegren has been staying in an $8,000-a-night, seven-room chalet outside the resort town of Chamonix since last Sunday. Sources tell PEOPLE that Nordegren and her twin sister Josefin, along with several close friends, have been skiing in Les Houches, an exclusive ski area adjacent to the Chamonix valley under the watchful paid eye of a private five-man French security force. Though the chalet includes a full staff as well as its own chef, Nordegren and her sister have been out to a local restaurant, hosting a New Year's Eve celebration which at midnight became the twins' 30th birthday party, according to one restaurant staffer. In its report, the Sun quotes a "family friend" as saying that Nordegren wished to escape "from the minefield Tiger has created by his behavior" and that Elin told her husband "she needed a lengthy time apart to reflect on how they might possibly salvage the marriage." http://www.people.com/peo...33,00.html
