I love soups, a mashed plantains dish that comes from the Dominican Republic/Puerto Rico called Mangú, and it's not a food, but HOT CHOCOLATE drool

It's freaking freezing here with my gas heater not working...I warmed up to some home-made three-alarm chili and some warm eggnog doused with rum! If I only had some home-made cornbread to go with it...

Soup, soup, and more soup! Miso, matzoh ball, chicken noodle, tom yum goong, chili, and German ones like creamy leek soup with ground beef. I made a biig pot of Japanese veggie soup with sake, shirataki and tofu (to which I sometimes add strips of succulent gingered pork), and I have been happily sucking that up for two days straight mushy

I call them 'winter comfort foods'. There are two for me. One is New England Clam Chowder from Panera with a couple of baguettes. I dip the baguettes in the soup and finish the bowl. Delicious!!

The other is Cream of Wheat.

I was lazy but did something similar with tofu tonight, but with green curry. I was a little light on the coconut milk though, so I had to puree up some peanuts to make my sauce heavier. It was pretty good and it stuck to the ribs.
