SO GAGA GAY IS OKAY BUT LAMBERT GAY NO WAY???

So um...not that I think Gaga's kiss was any less shocking than Lambert's but uh...why is Barbara engaging in a double standard? This ole bitty been around forever so why not pull out all the stops? It's your show heffa!!

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Adam Lambert’s controversial kiss at the American Music Awards continues to be kept off the airwaves.

The singer’s same-sex kiss during his performance of “For Your Entertainment” at November’s awards show was not televised on Barbara Walters’ “The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009” special on ABC (the network that aired the AMAs) on Wednesday.

“I would do it exactly the same way,” Adam told Barbara of the much-discussed performance. “Freedom of expression should be alive and well, and unfortunately, it’s not.”

However, Barbara did showcase a female same-sex kiss – from Lady Gaga.

The special shows a clip from Gaga’s video for the track “Love Game,” depicting the singer locking lips with another woman.

“I do like women. I’ve only been in love with men, I’ve never been in love with a woman,” Gaga explained to Barbara. “I have certainly had sexual relationships with women, yes.”

While Barbara had no issue with Gaga’s kiss, she made a point of noting she wasn’t going to show Lambert’s, in favor of spending more time on his interview.

“The CBS Early Show” did a similar thing two weeks ago. After booking Lambert on their show (following his cancellation by ABC’s “Good Morning America”), CBS blurred the male-male Lambert kiss, while not blurring a female-female kiss between Britney Spears and Madonna at the 2003 MTV “Video Music Awards.”

I think it's unfair to Lambert. His kiss isn't anymore unsettling than what gaga has done or what Madonna has done numerous times.

no the gay kiss shouldn't matter the fact that they blatantly have a double-standard MATTERS.

this is a man's world even if it was Barb's show. a lesbian is something people want to see. a gay male. forget about it.

I said this in another thread on Adam but I'll repeat it here. The problem isn't that Adam is gay or the same sex kiss, the underlining issue is that Adam's performance was aggressive and dominate. The freak out by the mainstream is because Adam basically stated I'm Queer and Sexual get use to it.

^ and that's the craziness of it all. It's not a sex act for christmassakes, it's a kiss. If you're not going to air one then don't air either.

Then she gives that BS about wanting to focus on his interview. Again...inequality. Why should gaga have less of an interview? Doesn't make sense.

Walters also asks Lambert, "What effect is this going to have on your career?"

"I'm not sure," replied Lambert. "Um, I -- you know, the other thing is, I -- I don't think that, you can really ... jump to conclusions about me as an artist based on one performance, that's, that's an ignorant thing to do."

True but people have done exactly that. I think his career is going to flop which is fucked cuz the guy has a great voice and is exciting to watch.

I'm not a huge fan, btu my favorite part of all this is that most (even gay folk) were all on his ass (no pun) about this performance and even they can't deny that (whether his intention or not) it's brought forth some important stuff.

I say what I said since we started talkin about this on the AMA thread. However unimpressive (artistically) that performance was, GOOD FOR HIM clapping that he had the balls to do it and went for it. From the start a lot of folk were all "We get it Adam. We get it, you're gay!" rolleyes and I still say the same: No one tells Brit or Madge or rap dudes "We get it, you're STRAIGHT". rolleyes

"Freedom of expression should be alive and well, and unfortunately, it’s not."

Why do so many people simply fail to understand the concept of free speech? Adam has the right to express his self, and the media has the editorial freedom to NOT give it air time. I often hear how bad our school system is, based on how often I hear people that do not understand the first amendment makes me wonder if they are not correct.

We have the freedom to do a lot of things. It doesn't make them less fucked or less worth challenging.

Seems to me Good Morning America's action reflected a policy (or quasi-policy) regarding Lambert. Barbara Walters is not going to buck her network over him.

It's called economics.
