Getting In Shape and Staying Fit Do any of you have an exercise routine that you follow? Do you work out at home with weights, riding a bicycle, walking/running/jogging... or do you go to the gym? How often do you exercise?
Does anyone have any great success stories... whether going from being overweight/underweight to a more ideal weight or from simply being un-fit and becoming more fit? Any secrets to your success? Me? Well, I recently started getting back into it last year, after taking a year or so break from it. I work out every day to every other day, at home, using weights and have recently added the walking/running to my routine. Has it been a success? I think so... physically and mentally.

I find yoga helps with physical fitness. It also works on a spiritual level.
Working out at the gym just used to make me horny afterwards

Working out at the gym just used to make me horny afterwards So what you're saying is all the women should be on alert when you get done with your workout at the gym? I used to do a little yoga years and years ago... then I just stopped for some reason. I suppose I grew bored with it. Maybe I'll pick that up again... damn keyboard [This message was edited Mon Jan 13 10:34:12 PST 2003 by AzureStar]

I do that too... use the stairs here... I go up them enough all day, but then I will also go up and down the bottom two for a period of time. I imagine I look like a fool... but my kids don't mind, they understand.

I dunno... how about riding a bicycle when you have a chance? You won't be on your feet and you'll be exercising and enjoying nature.

I like to exercise everyday. Lately I've been running and lifting some weights (for toning purposes not to add bulk), but what I really love to do is play.
I love to play basketball or football or basically anything where you can run around and compete. Running is my new love, but I seem to be developing Iliotibial band syndrome which is causing me some severe pain after I run 4 or 5 miles. So I’ve had to cut my runs short lately which kind of sucks. I’m trying to find the cause of the problem so I can go back to my normal routine. My take on physical fitness is that it is essential. I look at my friends who are falling out of shape and know that they are not only costing themselves fun now but they are really going to pay the price when they are old and unable to do simple things like walk. If you don’t stay in shape when you are younger you have absolutely no chance as a senior citizen.

I am a fast walker , I have been nearly at the same weight... since as long as I can remember... although gravity seems to have the upper hand lately , damn gravity.
On the other hand , I love to rollerblade, hike and simply stay busy (physically), I could never work at a desk... never...
