If we get anything more than 2 inches I don't go anywhere. Not because I can't handle it (our first home in the mountains was always snow covered and hilly in winter), but folk down here freak the fuck out and can't drive in RAIN let alone snow.

Last year we passed 5 accidents (not one pile up, mind you, 5 INDIVIDUAL accidents) in a 2 mile stretch of highway...just on rain. neutral

I like when it snows and old people decide to finally leave their house and drive.... eek

or folk in trucks think they can speed because they have 4 wheel drive "dumbass"

I always have to be extra cautious watching for idiots!

I don't know what I'm going to do if they don't cancel rehearsal tonight. Unless a street gets plowed within a block of my place and someone with 4-wheel drive can pick me up, I'm screwed.

In SC they'd have to call out the National Guard if we got 17" of snow! In Jan. of '81, I went to Vermont to visit my then boyfriend's family and saw enough snow to last the rest of my life. It was waist deep and the small town they lived in had a fast running water stream that literally froze in mid-air! eek
His mom, however, managed to drive us up a small mountain (ok, it seemed like a mtn. to me) for SATURDAY NIGHT BINGO!! omg I was beg and confessing my sins the whole way there because her old car felt like it was going to slip off the road(?) and into the treetops on my side of the car!
I now appreciate the few flakes we get and the occasional small snowman we build in my great state. nod lol

I'm in Wisconsin - and they've declared a State of Emergency here for the storm (which activates all National Guard units).

Well...I just called my boss and requested a vacation day for tomorrow. With the temperature expected to drop below zero and windchills far below that, it just doesn't seem safe for me to drive 40 miles over a road that will still be icy. And I didn't bring home enough work to hold me for another day.

That means I'm off for the rest of the week.

Toronto got its first snowfall of the season overnight. It's not bad actually, but our parking lot is recessed. We've got no salt yet, so it took a few tricks to get out of our driveway.

I survived and it really wasn't all that bad (I thought anyway). I don't even have snow tires on yet. I might not even bother getting some this year.

I still hate winter though.

you're from Ontario, right? could you deal with living in a place like Florida or Arizona or something weather-wise?

I live in Ontario, but I've also lived across Canada.

And hell yes, I could. I could live in dry or humid heat all year round. I've lived in both kinds of summer heat.

So sorry Genesia...please stay safe and warm. It must be bad if they've declared a state of emergency! Is it still snowing hard and, if so, how long before they predict it will stop?

Thanks. hug

It's stopped now. In fact, the sun is trying to come out.

Our rehearsal is on for tonight. A friend (and castmate) with 4-wheel drive will pick me up a couple blocks from my house. (I don't want to risk her getting hung up on my street.) With any luck, by the time we're done tonight, they'll have plowed enough for her to pull into my driveway.

Days like that make me miss living in Chicago. It just doesn't snow much in New York City, and when it does it barely stays on the ground before it's shoveled up and dumped in the river or Staten Island or wherever. I want a snowstorm!
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Just checked back in on you. Glad to know the weather is trying to clear. I remember (from that trip to Vt) how cold my feet got walking in that snow. Brrr
You must have snow shoes/boots, right? You know that saying...cold feet, warm heart. hug smile I'll check back.

Good ol' Ma Nature dumped 17" of snow on my house last night.

Coming home from rehearsal around 10:30, I actually got stuck in my own driveway. And that was before the thundersnow!

It's nice to have a snow day and all...but we have our final tech rehearsal tonight. (Show opens Friday.) I have no idea how I'm going to get there. There ain't a chance in hell my street's going to be plowed (and my driveway shoveled out) by 4:00.

I'm supposed to be working from home...but I think this is mainly going to be a napping day.

hey fellow canadians! I called in sick cause I'm not well and I freaking HATE HATE HATE the weather!

Not exactly snowed in, but we got a bit of snow here in the hudson valley of New York. Then it turned to rain. It's gonna be really fun for these next few days since the temperature is gonna drop into the 20s confused. It was nearly 70 degrees the other day! pout

whole gang of snow in southeast minny.

i have no problem with the cold weather. i enjoy watching the seasons change. its easier to keep track of memories when you can tie them to a certain time of year.
