If you live in the states, I think the Barnes and Nobles one will be the best one (is it out yet)?

You get free wi-fi at all Barnes & Nobles stores, and you can do a 'one time lend' of your ebook to a friend if they have the same device.

It has 16-shade resolution, and is just more attractive than the other two.

I don't believe the Sony device has wi-fi built in. Although, it comes in multiple configurations, and you can even get them at Walmart now.

I wish I had bought an ebook reader. I own so many books and they're expensive to move around.

The cool thing about them is that new releases (hardcovers) are almost half price sometimes in ebook form.

I use Kindle for iPod Touch and it is the best investment I ever made!! And Amazon will have quite a few free books biggrin Plus you can also put the e-book reader app and do e-books. And very portable. I read lke crazy and my bookshelf overfloweth! Last time I moved my books weighed so damn much I ended up spending an additional 200 bucks mad Plus....they weigh too much and take up space.

e-reading is the best invention of the decade if you ask me!

I have the Sony E Reader Touch.

I.....LOVE.....IT!

My only complaint is the glare off of the screen sometimes.

I usually read 3 books at a time so it is so my E Reader is so convenient.

Do your eyes get tired from the back-lit screen of the Ipod Touch though?

My understanding is that E-Readers are better due to the electronic-ink on the readers looking very similar to reading actual paper text.

I saw a Sony Reader at Books-A-Million and thought it was kind of impressive. It was quite easy to read, though I didn't like the grayish background.

my brother got one, a very good one, although i can't even recall
what the brand was.

he didn't like it at all but since i'm a book fanatic he called
me before he sent it back to have a look and told me that i could
have it as a gift if i liked it.

but after having played with it for half an hour i decided it was
not for me. i love books more than anything but and e-reader just
isn't the same.

i can see how it's usefull to some but it's just no good for me.

I use the white lettering on the black background and I usually have low contrast on it anyway. I would not have thought I would like it better than reading books but I do. I thought about getting a Kindle but the price is the same and it is nice to be able to listen to music at the same time, or play games. I just love my Touch!!! lol

I have about 20 books, and truthfully about 3/4 of them were free! And I've gotten into some new authors.

Plus I'm lazy. It is nice to have a book immediately downloaded and ready for reading instead of going to the bookstore and walking out with heavy books that I have no space for. Plus no one knows I'm spending money LOL.... wink

I wanted to wait for one that reads to me, but I'm not sure that the device will have a nice "voice". So, I might get one that's available now afterall, and just listen to audiobooks on my iPod.

lol

That's my primary concern--space.
I couldn't bring all the books I wanted to with me to Thailand, and ended up leaving hundreds of books at both home locations at home.

Although there are some books you just can't have in e-form (photo books, art books, etc.), your paperback (the vast majority of mine) is perfect for this format. I could have brought hundreds of books with me in e-book form and had instant access to all of them. That's the advantage I see here.

The good thing about the Sony E Book is that you can add memory, the Kindle, you can't. I do understand how some people like to have a book in their hands, I kind of miss that but it's still so convenient.

So you know, if you get the Sony E Book, you have to download through USB. No big deal for me. The Kindle uses WiFi to download.

the Barnes & Noble Nook shits on all other E-Readers:

The main reason is rocks is because it runs on top of Google's "Android" operating system (the same OS used in the T-Mobile G1, MyTouch3G, Motorola Droid phones).

Android is an open source operating system with a HUGE developer community behind it. There's already tons of people making their own mods for the Nook, to make it do all kinds of different things.

It's always connected to a data network as well so you can use it anywhere biggrin

I'm kind of old school too...I like my books, but space is becoming an issue for me.

For now, I just download audio books and it works out great because I can listen while driving, doing housework, etc.
