At last, after all these years, and in fact decades, people are realizing that theres much better things to do in life other than watching these fantasy soaps!!!!!

Well, lets face it, the storylines on all these soaps are so far-fetched now, they are beyond the realms of any thing in real life!!!!

Oh no. "As The World Turns" was the only soap opera I used to watch in the 1980s and 1990s. My grandmother and my great aunt watched it back when it first went on the air on up until the day they died. I think my grandmother said it was even on radio before it was on television. My mother watched it in the 1960s and early 1970s. I started watching it in the early 1980s and got my mother back into watching it along with my two sisters. I stopped watching it in 1998, my mother watched it till the day she died, and one of my sisters still watches it today.
Even though I haven't watched the show in 11 years, with all the shows coming and going over the years and all the reality bullshit shows taking over, I at least knew "As The World Turns" was still there like an old family member that you haven't visited in years but were always welcome to come back and visit if you chose to. I'm wondering what will replace it. Probably another one of those rediculous court shows. I was home one day and those things were all over the place. . . . I'm not surprised, especially after Guiding Light was canceled. CBS is filling up their day time slots with game shows. I suspect more talk shows will pop up even though Bonnie Hunt's show was canceled (no shocker there).
CBS is still pushing The Price Is Right, and now has a new Let's Make A Deal with Wayne Brady on right after. CBS here has Regis & Kelly first thing, then TPIR and LMAD, then news, then As The World Turns, Bold & Beautiful (I bet the next one to get the ax), then Dr. Phil and Ellen.

Holden , Lilly and the bunch. Yes, the original Lilly played by Martha somebody and Holden with his sexy hairy chest. Don't forget bitchy Lucinda (my favorite) and evil James who rose from the dead more times than Jesus. Andy is a four letter word.

I'll get really into it in the summer intime for it to end. I hope they run several old episodes before they end or some compilation "Best Of" scenes from over the years. It would be great to see some of the old cast in their prime such as Lucinda, Lisa, James, Bob, Kim, Lilly, Holden, Franny, Sabrina, Susan, Emily, Cricket, Barbara, Gunnar, Paul, Andy, John, Mr.Big, Margo, Tom, Shannon, Craig, Betsy, Steve, etc. . . . Thanks to my mother, my aunts and several female cousins...I was a soap opera junkie!
I remember the day Luke married Laura on General Hospital and running home after being dropped off by the school bus, just in time to watch it happen. I remember crying like a baby when Jesse died in the hospital with Angie at his bedside on All My Children. I remember jumping up and down in my living room when I saw the BEST fight ever recorded for a soap opera was shown. Hell fuck to the naw, I don't give a damn what the tv critics say, it was NOT Alexis and Krystal on Dynasty! It was Doreen Jackson and Maya Reubens on the too short lived soap Generations! That fight was the BOMB! They showed how Sistahs do the damn thing! Where was I going with this? Oh yeah! I quit watching soaps 15 years ago! I just gave up on them because they'd become too fucking BORING! I couldn't even be bothered to tune in again when I heard AMC was bringing back...in desperation...Angie and Jesse! The rest WILL soon follow As The World Turns, mark my words! They had a great run but the handwriting is on the wall! It's over for soap operas! . A couple of comments:
- I hate "As the World Turns"... I stopped watching it years ago! - "BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL" MUST DIE!!!! - I just watched the catfight! What were they saying? There was no sound... (yes there was! I had the laptop on "mute". ) Were they fighting over Kristoff's character? And was that Vivica? "duh" edit. [Edited 12/8/09 15:27pm] "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. I became a fan of hers right then and there! They were and they weren't...fighting over Kristoff. What had happened was... Adam(Kristoff) was dating Maya(Vivica) and working for Maya's dad...I forget his name...this was over 20 years ago but I think he was played by Shaft(Richard Roundtree). Doreen was messing around with Maya's dad, who also happened to be her husband's partner/friend. Doreen turned up pregnant and Maya's dad thought it was his...so he arranged for Doreen's husband to disappear...I forget how though...I think he set him up and he went to jail. Anyhoo, what no one knew at the time was Doreen was also sleeping with Adam and that baby was his. I think if Maya knew that at the time, there'd have been no tearing those two apart. I think that's what helped get the show canceled but seeing it when it happened was an experience that was the talk of beauty shops from coast to coast for months! That was when I first started watching the show with my grandmother back in 1980. Br. Big was something else. I couldn't find any pictures of him on the internet anywhere. I think I remember that cause all of the "games" he played on them was from childhood books but I can only recall the Alice in Wonderland game. N Lucinda still rocks it even to this day. They don't give her enough screen time anymore. The last great thing she did was serve Noah and Luke ice cream after the did it. They don't give her enough screen time anymore. The last great thing she did was serve Noah and Luke ice cream after the did it. I remember when Lucinda first came to Oakdale. She was Lisa's arch enemy. Lisa was married to Whit McColl who had recently died. Lucinda hated Whit because she blamed him for her husband committing suicide because Whit was blackmailing him because he knew that Lilly was adopted (which came out years later). At that time though, all Lisa knew was Lucinda had come to town, started a paper, and was printing shitty stories about her husband. Lucinda showed up at the funeral home and stood in front of Whit's casket, stomped the floor, and said...."How are you doing down there in Hell shoveling coal"....Lisa was furious. Then Lucinda got with Craig, had him working for her, and was sleeping with him (he later got with Lucinda's other daughter which no one knew was her daughter). Lucinda told Craig to go to the auction and buy Diana's yacht (Diana was Whit's daughter). She said...."Buy that damn yacht whatever it costs. I want to see that damn thing sit and rot in the water". Ms. Lucinda was hell. Andy is a four letter word.

I've been watching "The Young and the Restless" since I was a kid, so I DVR it and watch it in the evening to unwind. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

You know that Linda Grey's character didn't even have a name in the beginning her character was suppose to be just a dutiful wife, until during one day of filming she gave a raised eyebrow to the camera and the director and writers saw potential and fleshed out the character.
