I prefer the bakery items you get in the UK or Germany fresh out of the bakeries to the nasty stuff we pass off as edible in the USA.

Loads of sponge cake, doused with sherry; canned fruit on top of the cake; strawberry jelly over the cake and fruit; chilled custard over the top of the jelly (once it's set); whipped cream and flaked almonds on top of the custard.

I could happily eat all this in one sitting.
