Okay, I have an Essence magazine subscription right, but I seem to get my magazines at the end of the month! Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the point of subscribing to a magazine is to receive the magazine before it hits the stands in the stores? Here it is November and I've yet to receive my November issue!!! Back when I used to subscribe to Vibe magazine, I used to receive my issues a week before it hit the stands. Am I thinking incorrectly here?

I don't have any now, but I used to be subscribed to Shonen Jump and Complex

UPDATE: Okay I'm definitely going to cancel my Essence subscription on my lunch break. Do you know that they didn't even send me my magazine with Steve Harvey and his wife on the cover???!!! They have crossed the WRONG ONE!!!!! I will just buy my issues from out the store from now on. Out of all the magazine subscriptions I have subscribed to in the past, this one is the worst.

I think the point of a subscription is just to ensure you have paid for a copy every month at a discount compared to buying it at newsstand price every month.

I have never heard of anyone saying "oh I already got my copy" before they see it on the newsstand.

Throughout the 90s I had a subscription to Spin, Rolling Stone, and Ebony.
