Exactly. As long as he phones ahead and tell them his situation, they should let him have two seats for the price of one because it is one body that is being shipped, not two. One less seat for sale is not going to break their stingy asses.

My mother wasn't as large as he is but she was pretty close. I've never seen such hateful stares in my life coming from people and some people absolutely begrudged any little extras she might have gotten such as an extra wide custom made wheelchair and they would stare with eyes full of hate as we would help her walk across the room. They act as if she wanted to be that large. Many times I had to stop myself from getting up and slapping the hell out of a few people.

For all the education, common sense and intelligence we pride ourselves with,,,,its wasted. The minute you hold any bigotry and pre-concieved ideas against somebody that doesn't look normal ALL of these factors go to waste.

I have a friend who used to be obese,,,,it took ALOOOOT of strength to pull her whenever we wanted to go out, shopping or otherwise. And it boogled my mind how folks act like they're seeing alien(mind you, some group of people act out when it comes to this more than the rest), it was so fucked up the minute we stepped into a certain store, the clerk said flat out "they don't have sizes for her" confused It took every bit of strength from me to stop myself from ringing that bitch's crooked neck,,,,I seeeeriously considered it.

What got me though was how she played it off, she's used to it. Thing is, she has bad genes and ANY small amount of high calorie foods can alter her shape in no time.

I bet she said it in front of other people too. That bitch knew she wasn't shopping for herself in the store. That bitch was trying to look big and get some laughs. I personally would find it much more funny watching the bitch pick her teeth up off the floor.

My mother was a big girl as a child. As years went by she got bigger and bigger. Most of her life, she was around the size of Nell Carter until recent years when she got even bigger than Mrs. Thomas on "What's Happening".

When she got older, she got gout in her feet, severe arthritis in her knees, and poisonous fluid started filling her legs and stomach. She dieted on and off her entire life but dieting is pure hell. Motherfuckers that holler "lose some damn weight" ought to try doing themselves and see how hard it is. She never really just over-ate though. She was just a big girl. When she got all those problems with her legs, she really started watching what she ate even more because she didn't want to die. But she couldn't lose any because she was totally inactive because it hurt her so much to walk. She did finally lose a lot of weight though when she was in the hospitals and nursing homes. The fluid was getting worse and worse and they drained out over a hundred pounds of fluid. Her mind started leaving and her brain was telling her that she couldn't swallow so she wouldn't eat unless me or my sister was their to physically feed her like a baby. Yeah, in the end, she was the beautiful thin lady that she always wanted to be....laying up in a casket. That's OK though, the best times of her life was when she was around Nell Carter's size, enjoying life, and not being miserable trying to diet all the time. But if folks don't like that, well fuck 'em. That's their problem, not mine.

For me , it comes down to whether this is a handicap or not (in the medical sense). If you are overweight due to medical reasons and simply unable to fit into a normal seat, then sure - show your doctors letter and go get yourself a half priced extra seat at minimal cost, and minimal disruption to those around you.
However, if you have been throwing Big Macs down your gullet for the past 20 years, and you want to overlap your girth into my fully paid seat - it ain't happening.

Wheelchairs, etc are a whole other subject, and I'm sure nobody in their right mind would begrudge them a little extra patience.

I'm sorry about that, Andy.

The consolation is, like you said, she enjoyed her life nod But she lived, like the rest of us in a morbid society,,,,the surface is EVERYTHING.

One thing for damn sure, she must've been a strong lady to put all of this bullshit peer pressure on mind block and if the "apple doesn't fall far from the tree" saying is true,,,,then she must've been one helluva dame for giving birth to one of the coolest bitches in orgville sexy and I haven't even met your ass yet lol hug

Bones actually remodel and grow thicker when more stress is placed upon them (such as excessive weight). So there is such a thing as "big boned," it just usually is a result of excess weight rather than a cause.

lol

LOL that is not considered to be "big boned" when in actual fact bones would only increase less then a couple millimeters or tenths of millimeters in thickness lol so hardly a difference at all. I learned all about it when I studied for my degree in applied science and natural therapies. So basically being "big boned" is a myth and cannot be used as an excuse for obesity.

I heard of "thicker bones" people tho' but they got nothing on this obese guy.
Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity

^Why stop there?

Why don't the airline also give him his own evacuation slide in an emergency too? His fat ass will block the escape window for the normal folks who want to escape.

He shouldn't be offered two seats, he should have to pay for two seats.

wtf is normal ? confused

And what is "normal folks". We all come in different shapes and sizes. I'm tall and always try to get an aisle seat when I go to a concert. A lot of places have lowered things such as water fountains for people in wheelchairs but I wouldn't begrudge them if they had lowered the water fountains for short people. It's just trying to accomodate someone that is a little different than the "average" person. What are we supposed to do, just kick anyone that isn't "normal" to the curb and leave them to die?

Hey, if someone's spilling over into my seat and making me uncomfortable, that's not my fault. And I'm going to let him know it.

quite right. the only thing about that situation that is "rude" is the fact that some ginormous person is trying to steal the seat space you paid for.

objecting to that theft is a sane, reasonable reaction, imo.

go ahead and hate me for my opinion but my GOD i hate the apologist movement for this obesity epidemic!!!

WHAT the heck are you even thinking when you defend someone who steals someone else's space?

were you born AFTER the obesity epidemic began? because for those of us who were born back when most folks cared about fitness, and really obese people were totally rare, this is a horrifyiong social change. moreover, it is going to cost each and every one of us real money down the line in terms of health care costs, etc.
