Take extra care this Christmas

Thursday morning I had to back track and get my phone as I left it at home, which is something I rarely do. I noticed a white van in front of my house and as I passed it I saw a middle aged woman weeding the garden eek . Nice luxury, but we don’t have a gardener! My first thought was WTF she must be in the wrong house. By the time I drove into the driveway and got out to ask her what was doing on, she was gone and the van drove off in a hurry. I didn’t get time to get the number plate. I called the police and reported it.

The constable told me how lucky I was as these people make out they’re doing maintenance on your property so the neighbors wouldn’t be suspicious, and then back the van in and rob you. The freaky thing was the lady across the road saw them and thought we got gardeners.

Message to everyone to be careful and tell your family, neighbors and friends. Take extra precaution! It's almost Christmas and all the crazies are out!

Wow! eek

I moved into my house in January, and the woman next door lives with her mother. At first, the older woman seemed nosy, always coming outside or looking out of the window. When my Dad and uncles were making repairs around the house, she asked them a bunch of questions that annoyed them.
But over the past couple of months, I've really come to appreciate her "looking out for me". She wanted make sure those men hanging around when I wasn't home were supposed to be there. She tells me what's going on, too. She said it's because she knows I live alone...

I'm glad it worked out where they didn't get a chance to break in, AND they LEFT when they saw you, and it didn't become something else. whew

Gee thanks everyone, your concern is much appreciated. I've made some really nice friends here.

I'm glad they didn't get in, it's not the stuff they take that upsets me it's the effect on the kids.
I want my kids to always feel safe in their own home and that's something that can't be replaced,

I've told some friends and one of them told me just the other week it happened in their street by the neighbor next to that particular house offered them a drink, eek
she felt sorry for them as they seemed to be working so hard and it was hot. neutral
They got all the Christmas presents jewelry, a money box and bits and pieces,
I just hope they get caught.

ugh! shake

I remember a woman who robbed a whole bunch of businesses all in a row. She'd let herself in the backdoor, make herself a coffee in the kitchenette, then take things out of staff member's handbags!

I even said hello to her err thinking she was one of the clients (she was dressed the part)

what a nerve!!!

Damn thats so creepy! I'm glad that nothing happened to you or your home. Makes you really think about if someone is watching you as you leave your home and when you return. Scary stuff, I make it a habit of looking around before I get into my car to leave and looking around my surroundings before I get out of my car to walk into my house...especially since it's dark when I get home and doubly because it's the holidays. If I have to make groceries, I either do it during the day or wait until I'm out with my boyfriend to do it. I have an alarm system in my home, and though it work's 100%, I still keep a butcher knife by my bedside, just in case.

While the holiday's are a special time, its also the most dangerous time of the year...and with so many people out of work, some have gone absolutely nuts. One of my mother's close friends was murdered around Christmas time. Though it's been 18 years since it happened and I was only 9 years old, I still remember that time vividly and how the whole incident gave me chills up my spine...and it still does till this day. She walked across the street to her neighbor's house to borrow a cup of sugar and never came back out. It doesn't make it a whole lot better that my mom's friend murderer has never been caught.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
