Just saw Basic Instinct on HBO. It's been several years since I have seen it and I forgot just how damn sexy and shocking it was. Sharon Stone is freaking hot in that movie, light year's away from the hackneyed actress she has become. Michael Douglas looks like he was seriously working out at that time. Hell even heavyset character actor George Dzudnza is at his peak. The sex scenes between Stone and Douglas are right at the borderline of soft core porn. Watching the movie, though, is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. After the initial titillation, all I could think about was how many godawful pieces of crap the movie inspired. Sliver, Body of Evidence, so many other early to mid 90s femme fatale films with shocking twist endings.

Why does every good idea have to inspire 50 bad ones?

Appreciate it HBO for the reminder.

Good movie, and VERY sensual!

However, I remember renting the sequel when it came out and falling asleep during the first 20 minutes. I couldn't even tell you what it was about!

There really hasn't been a good sexy movie out in quite some time. Not porn, mind you, but a movie with a little "something something" for grown folks. After Basic Instinct, they made a ton of them and then Janet flashes her nipples and now we're a bunch of puritans.
