These all sound like fixes for either a waxy blockage, or bacterial ear infection.

We're talking about COLDS I thought. confuse No shit, same solutions?

Cleaning the nostrils and gargling with warm salt water (or gargling Listerine, I just figure if Listerine does the same as the salt water I shove it in my nose too redface) helps to fight proliferation of germs that cause colds/flus etc...
At least this is how I understood it.

my dad says soon Listerine will be taken off the market since it's suspected role in mouth cancer likelihood confused

Great to know. Now my nose will fall off too. neutral

Just Listerine (brand) or mouth rinses in general? I vary what I use.

any with high alcohol content - gives you cancer if used a lot - like drinking straight high proof alcoholic drinks (without mixers) every day have their role in esophageal cancer sad

I don't know if it has been proven yet.

Cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) is a cationic quaternary ammonium compound in some types of mouthwashes, toothpastes, lozenges, throat sprays, anti-sore throat sprays, breath sprays, and nasal sprays. It is an antiseptic that kills bacteria and other microorganisms. It has been shown to be effective in preventing dental plaque and reducing gingivitis.[citation needed] It has also been used as an ingredient in certain pesticides. However, this ingredient has also been alleged (according to WebMD,[1] eMedicine,[2]) to cause brown stains between the teeth similar to Chlorhexidine rinse. Flossing your teeth regularly and with good technique will prevent this type of extrinsic staining.

make sure you floss

this is mental!!! err

I use a 3% topical solution of hydrogen peroxide to clean my ears out. Its also good if your ears are plugged.

Some people even brush thier teeth with it...makes em whiter. wink

i got it on perscription from my md when my ear was blocked
and i had to use the peroxide for 3 or 4 days before they
would rinse the mess out of my ears.

it's a very low % of peroxide tho so be carefull what you
put in your ears. best go to your md.
