any bowhunters/archery types here?

I'm thinking of selling my saxophone, which I'll never learn how to play, to finance a bow!

Deer hunting, eh, maybe. Mostly I just want to learn how to gracefully put a sleek projectile into a target at 20 yards. The romance of people who have done this for a living (i.e. Indians) has inspired me. And hunting is a pretty huge pastime in this area.

I'm not a bowhunter but my husband is. He loves it, mostly loves the peace and tranquility of the woods, as the sun comes up or goes down. You don't have to spend 8 hours in a tree if you do a lot of scouting in the off season...but either way you do spend alot of time in a tree.
curious...what kind of bow are you thinking about? you mentioned indians...but the bows today are not like that....I mean you can get a recurve (I think that's what those are called) but most hunters use compound bows. Even in the small area I live in we have an archery shop with a shooting range...I'm sure they'd be more than happy to let you shoot one and see what works for you.
good luck! biggrin
"not a fan" falloff yeah...ok

thanks!

I'm only starting to do my research but I'm leaning towards recurve. And someday I'd love to move up to longbow. But, one thing at a time.

I considered just getting some cheapie on ebay to try it out - but a friend reminded me I'll really need to get fitted up properly at a shop, or it'll be a bad experience. So I think I'll do that. biggrin
