A 'transsexual' is usually somebody born in the body of the wrong gender. A person may for all emotional purposes purposes be female, but physically have a male's body. Treatment or an operation in this case would be to 'right the wrong' out of emotional necessity.

Transvestite means a person who dresses up and acts like a person of the opposite sex. It could just be for fun, and not for any deeper reasons as being transsexual.

Drag queens are just trashy transvestites!
