I'm joking people...but not about hating her lol

I always loved her in tv movie of the week shit. redface

I'll never forget she played a retarded woman "Whinnie" or something like that and I cried and cried.

If I watched that today it's probably crap. lol

I don't know why I didn't like her. I did like Family Ties, but...I don't know she just bugged me.

I just read about her being on a predominantly lesbian cruise when I was perusing the Enquirer last night. The article talked about how both she and Kelly McGillis were spotted on the cruise recently and while everyone knew that Kelly was gay, passengers were wondering why MB was on the boat. The Enquirer pretty much nails their stories these days.

God I miss NBC in the 80s...Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers and Night Court. Thursdays rocked hard!

It was. And then LA Law at 10:00...other networks had nothing. They conceded Thursday night to the juggernaut.

Interesting.

NEW YORK — Meredith Baxter, who played mother Elyse Keaton on the 1980s TV series "Family Ties," has revealed that she is a lesbian.

Enlarge photo FILE - In this Thursday Feb. 7, 2008 file photo, Meredith Baxter, of the "Family Ties" television series during her appearance on the NBC "Today" television show in New York. Baxter, the actress who played Elyse Keaton on the '80s TV series "Family Ties," has revealed that she is a lesbian.

."I am a lesbian, and it was a later-in-life recognition of that fact," the 62-year-old actress said in an interview Wednesday on NBC's "Today" show.

WTF! I am truly sorry but these late in life lesbians I am just not buying! Not in this day and age! You get to 62 or even in your 40s and you don't know before that that you are a lesbian?! BS!!!! Don't buy it, full of crap! If she said she was bi- or gender confused, I would buy it. But no one is that confused for that long a time! "Later-in-life recognition"! Is that the same recognition my X had when he decided that he liked a certain drug enough, after 40 plus years of not liking drugs, to become a drug addict?! What bull! Don't buy the crap anyone like that is selling! eek razz mad

Whether you buy it or not, the fact remains that it's their experience, and it's how it's bloomed in their life. No one ever said Meredith (or anyone) was "confused" about who they were then or now. People evolve, and for whatever reason, this is how she has evolved as a person, a woman, and a human being. It's not uncommon for the "later in life" thing; it's really not. Over 300,000,000 people in the US alone....Meredith isn't an exception to the rule. I understand it might be confusing to you, or whoever, and maybe you just can't wrap your brain around it, but you cannot doubt someone's personal experience, or truly judge their hearts and what they feel. She's living her life honestly.....why crucify her for that?

Thank goodness somebody else remembers this show... I know we have some folks on this board alive in the 70's. lol I'm afraid we'll never see this type of writing ever again and why is it with 5,000 cable channels they can't put these shows on tv?

What's messed up is that I didn't remember until you told me!!!! I felt like I was going back in a time machine when I saw that! Let's not even start on the 5,000 cable channels. I will admit that initially I fell for some of the reality tv craze because I live overseas and am starved for English language programming...but I'm sorry, the writing from our shows from back in the day was the bomb! I guess it all ended with the 90'sneutral

mad mad mad mad !

It seems like all the ones that people suspect of being gay or lesbian always end up being revealed as gay or lesbian in the end. lol

This doesn't bode well for Tom Cruise and Kenney Chesney lol

No disrespect intended, but who cares? Why does she feel the need to announce this now, after YEARS gone by? I thought it was pretty obvious back then in the day.

It wasn't obvious back in the day when she had husbands and kids.

There was an admission on her part because of some pictures of her on a gay cruise, and pictures of her out and about (living her life openly) with her girlfriend. I see it as she was just confirming it. It wasn't HUGE news for those that have seen her out and about.

It's like the phrase of "glass closet", where a person is out and living honestly, but doesn't feel the need to "announce" it. Now for some it worked well, like Ellen, or Rosie. But even those gals were living w/ girlfriends and being who they were before an announcement was made by them. (But Kudos to Ellen for doing it in a time where it was still an "OH MY GOD" thing to be out and gay, even in Hollywood.) Anderson Cooper, and Jodie Foster, are two others that have that glass closet thing going on. People know, but they've never said yay or nay on it. Jodie sort of came out when she thanked her girlfriend at some function last year (then broke up with her just weeks after). Anderson is said to be moving in with his longtime boyfriend Benjamin Maisani (who is so ridiculously hot). It's "news" to some, but a glass closet case to others.

In truth, Meredith doesn't owe anyone a yes or no. But being a public figure, she might feel a responsibility to be honest, and squelch tabloids from writing falsehoods about her (but stand by for "break up" stories now that we know she has a girlfriend).

Exactly! I'm not trying to crucify anyone, but instead of saying she found out "later in life", why not just admit she was gay all along?! If she is gay, more power to her... I just get tired of this late in life stuff, just say you've been gay all along! lol

In reality, she might not have felt gay all along.

As I watch a few classic episodes of Family Ties, who could really tell that Meredith liked other women.

I'm still trying to work on my shocked face for this one....

but hell, I remember the days when people really thought that Rosie O'Dennell really wanted to bone Tom Cruise. Like I remember saying"Rosie o'donnell is gay" and people saying all indignant "no she's not!"

hell Tom Cruise been Trapped in the Closet longer than R. Kelly.

Just say we all gay and get it over with!

Rosie NEVER said she wanted to fuck Tom Cruise. She said she wanted him to mow her yard or something. Even lesbians can recognize a handsome guy when they see one. Hell, I'm gay as Christmas at Macy's, but I'd still fuck Janet Jackson.
