I'd like to see how the inside is constructed. I have the feeling it's made like a regular shoe encased in that shell. When I first looked at it, I thought the foot would be distorted. Now I'm not so sure...

Their look is completely dependent on the setting IMO.
If you can master them and walk graceful as most of the girls on that runway there is a sense of "floating" almost. Very surreal. So if they were worn to the opening of a modern/conceptual/avant garde art, they would seem appropriate and beautiful and fitting. Or an avant garde fashion retrospective at a museum (imagine some fierce bitch getting out of her limo and walkin up the Met's steps in those.

If you wear them to the bar on Friday night you will look like an ass.
