Buying Christmas presents for your better half Hey everyone.
I just wanted to ask you all how you chose your presents for your other / better halves. I don't normally celebrate Christmas (I'm not religious and it was always a day I celebrated for my mother's behalf) but have been brainstorming on what to buy my other half. I decided to buy him what would make him the happiest and most relaxed and have ordered him the Final Fantasy XIII game. He's always been an avid game player and loves RPG's and for this one he won't have to worry about trying to understand the English and can just relax and play it but I wanted to buy him something else....I just don't know what to get. I want to surprise him with something else because he already knows about the game. Another thing he loves is tennis, and is quite talented, so I thought about buying him a nice racquet....but have noooo idea what is good and what is cheap, nasty and crappy. So what are you guys buying, how do you make your choice on what is the perfect gift? Do you buy jewellery or something that you know they will love? What's your failsafe choice for making sure the gift doesn't fall flat? How do you know you've made the perfect choice for the perfect person? Also does anyone have any recommendations for racquets? Do you think this is a good present or shite? "...and If all of this Love Talk ends with Prince getting married to someone other than me, all I would like to do is give Prince a life size Purple Fabric Cloud Guitar that I made from a vintage bedspread that I used as a Christmas Tree Skirt." I have no idea about tennis raquets... sorry!
My husband and I never know what to buy for each other... and as our kids are still young we don't spend too much on them - they're going to be giving us huge lists in years to come, so we're getting away with it while we can! What we do at christmas is buy one big present for the family and this year we have brought a drum kit. It's electronic so you can plug headphones into it as well as an amp. I don't know much about these things but it's pretty cool.

Well I got my boyfriend:
A nice Kenneth Cole pea coat Gloves Ear cover thingy's A pair of all black Puma sneakers A collar shirt Two Izod sweaters Two fitted baseball hats of his fav team All items were on sale or buy one get the other half off or free...so thats why there's one of this or two of that. And I didn't even spend $200 dollars on it, all within my budget. If you really want to give your significant other a tennis racquet, then why don't you go to a sports good's store and ask a store associate about which racquets are good and which are trash. Or you can google it. Or you can ask your hubby in an indirect way about it...but you will have to be really sneaky about it. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

those sound like good gifts since those seem like things he will use.Thats basically what I did. My man is a motorcycle rider so I got him a shoei helmet. Thats his granddaddy of gifts then I got minor things like a bathrobe, white gold dog tags and chain, kenneth Cole Reaction cologne and a wallet. I think he will be very happy. Don't take life too seriously, noone gets out alive.

Ron is an avid reader (1-2 books weekly). He loves gadgets. Enjoys video games on weekend afternoons. We enjoy going to shows. I tend to shop around these things and any other interests of his. I also buy him clothes, he doesn't do much clothes shopping.

my husband loves golf, so he was wanting a nice golf ball display case for his golf balls with logo's of all the courses he's been to. so i found two really nice ones that would fit all his balls. and i bought them for him. i also bought him a ralph lauren sweater, a pebble beach polo shirt, and i'm still looking for a few other pants and sweaters to buy him. he likes to wear sweaters in the winter time, and he doesn't really have any right now, so i thought he'd like that. oh, and i just bought him a new awesome cell phone, which i gave to him already i couldn't help myself.

I don't know if my man will be on here, so I'll just say techy stuff...and if I get time....a professional photo of the wee boy.....though not sure the little fellow will sit still for it..

Since we do secret santa with both our families and don't have each other, I'm not actually required to get him a gift this year.
but I'm thinking of getting him a coffee grinder - an old manual one if I can find it! He loves his fresh coffee and we don't need any more elctric appliances

Last year I bought her a Radley bag, that I put a purse inside and some little bits and bobs like a fancy comb, bracelet, lip gloss etc.
A few years ago I kinda messed up giving her a box with lots of different stuff in and on the bottom of the box I stuck a picture of a mobile phone. I hadn't bought the phone, as they're cheaper here in Thailand (we were in the UK that Xmas), which she understood, but she thought she was getting the phone in the pic. I'd just cut out the only one from a catalogue I found that was a large picture to fill the bottom of the box, not noticing that it was really rather high-end. It was a mobile phone, symbolic! Not the mobile phone. When we're here in Thailand I just give her a kiss and x,xxx bahts and we spend a day walking around as many shops as we can in Bangkok and she buys a few pairs of shoes, some jeans, tops, skirts and whatnot. I love Christmas shopping for my significant other! In fact sometimes I have to stop myself because I can go overboard... but for my family members It's hard shopping for my mom because she has everything!!! [Edited 11/30/09 17:12pm] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

From what everyone's saying it looks like I have chosen fairly good presents. I just realised though that last year I got him a game, two tennis shirts and some face product stuff. I had no idea I was repeating the same theme.....
So I'm gonna get him a nice coat too! He's big into duffels lately. You guys all seem to buy awesome presents.
