I didn't hear about this. my sister just put her house on the market, she lives in the Dandenong ranges and was evacuated twice last summer. Yesterday they talked all afternoon on the radio about the risks in that particular area and how residents HAVE NOT cleared their properties enough to be fire safe for this season and that it's basically a disaster waiting to happen 
She hasn't paid any of it off yet, and has already moved into a rental house by the beach. I'm guessing the bank will take it in the end, though I wonder if even they will be able to sell it?

http://www.domain.com.au/...2008121777 it's a really nice hideaway, really lovely community, but you couldn't pay me to live there it looks like a very nice home. it's beautiful, but tiny, she was trying to run her business from home, but it took up the whole living/dining area (which is just one room off the kitchen). Hope someone buys it soon! | |
