CD Stores in NYC

I haven't been in NY since May. I knew that the Virgin in Union Sq was closing down but I didn't know that the one in Times Sq did as well.

Where does one go now for cds, other than Amazon?

I go primarily to Best Buy for mainstream releases and Other Music (W4th & Lafayette) for indie releases.

There are a few other stores I'll check out if I'm nearby like Generation Records, Kim's Video, Sounds... Is Disc-O-Rama still around? Their prices were good.

When I'm in the City, I go to Village Music World on Bleecker (between McDougal & 6th).

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

Target? shrug Admittedly, I don't buy many CDs, but I trekked to Brooklyn to buy the Lotusfailure trilogy.
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Not really anymore. Bleecker St. has some, but the "internets" has the most! wink

I hate that.
I've reached in darkness and come out with treasure
I layed down with love and I woke up with lies
Whats it all worth only the heart can measure
It's not whats in the mirror but what's left inside

There are still a couple of Disc-o-Ramas left in NYC. They sell way more than top 40 and at reasonable prices.
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Outside of NYC on the interstate highways, there are newsstands/restrooms every few miles where you can buy stuff to read and eat and there are usually cassette stands there--with mostly country music. lol

my parents used to have a double cassette called Wandong Country, I bet they got it at a petrol station out on the road. Come to think of it, we stopped at a petrol station in Wandong last year, but I didn't see a single cassette in there sad

The selection is all oldies obviously. Budget greatest hits and other artists you haven't thought about in years like Styx. lol

Or Alan Parsons. tease

St Louis has a couple kick ass places.
One has a glass vault with rare and precious material for sale.

Absolutely. The original poster doesn't seem like a vinyl guy though and asked about CDs. smile
