Art Criticism from 2the9s:
xenon said: Wassily Kandinsky This looks like someone stuck an M-80 in a box of Crayola Crayons and then tried to repackage them. Another Kandinsky, probably his most well known. And least liked. Did Harold and the Purple Crayon take a bad acid trip? The occasional coherent bits aren't even remotely offset by the globs of ugly paint that have been spattered on with neither rhyme nor reason. No scratch that, there must be something that rhymes with Piece of Shit... Mondrian Yeah, Mondrian...you might want to get a second opinion on that X-Ray. It looks to me like you have a bad case of "I Can't Paint For My Life-itis." Mondrian Oh, you discovered color? Just as I gouged my eyes out after viewing your last effort. A little too little a little too late. Maybe someday you'll discover talent too. Won't that be fun. Plus you have a girl's name. Barbara Hepworth Ummm, eating a coconut like some ravenous beast and then shellacking the remains and propping them on your mantelpiece is NOT ART! (See "Dogs Playing Poker" above for an example of art) Hepworth Sometimes you feel like a nut...sometimes you sculpt shittily... Jacques Lipchitz. Is this a late entry for the Ground Zero contest? Not late enough. Edite [This message was edited Mon Jan 13 13:23:30 PST 2003 by 2the9s]

Boob said: Do you see the long grey shape at the bottom? It's a distorted skull.
If you look at it from a side angle (it works best from the lower left) it comes into perspective. By Hans Holbien the Younger First off, Hans Holbien the Younger was a whore. That said, yeah I see the skull. It's distorted. Big Whoop. What is this Marilyn Manson meets the Happy painter? The best perspective to have on this waste of canvas is to see it sitting out on the curb on garbage day. Edite [This message was edited Mon Jan 13 13:36:28 PST 2003 by 2the9s]

Boob said: Notice the two overlapping triangles. (Trianglular composition, very important ) The left triangle, defined by the mast and two ropes, includes the dead and dying.
The right triangle, whose peak is the man waving the flag, contains those who find hope. An amazing painting depicting people caught between hope and hoplessness. The Raft of Medusa by Gericault Count me among those without hope... I've seen this before. I know I have...Wait a minute! I've got it! Tell me if this rings a bell: Just sit right back and hear a tale a tale of a fateful shit... Or is that "trip"? Anyway, I don't think Gilligan himself would find anything redeemable in this travesty. I'm rooting for the waves...

i love it. You would. You smell your own ass. For a third grader this is not bad. Although I would get them on Ritalin without further ado. Oh, this is by Picasso? Yeah, and I'm not an art critic. [This message was edited Mon Jan 13 13:58:49 PST 2003 by 2the9s]

It says, "You don't want to look at this crappy painting anymore than I wanted to pose for it, but here we are." Apparently Gainsborough painted this over another painting that he had already started. That was probably wise. Anyone who paints this badly had better learn to recycle! Moany Lisa was a ventriloquist!(It's True!) I suppose my favourite painting has got 2 b the world's most famous work of art, Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Not, i hasten 2 add, because it holds some particular appeal 4 me but rather on account of the fact that it's the only inanimate object that's ever spoken 2 me. That summer in Paris i queued 4 AGES with the rest of the suckers - sorry, i mean cognoscenti, watching with a mixture of anticipation & curiosity, as i beheld the wonder & fascination with which those b4 the great lady so studiously surveyed her. As we filed ever so slowly in front of this shrine, i paused momentarily 2 savour the experience & gazed at the woman who's big on enigmatic grins but a wee bit short on the eyebrow front. That's when it happened. The most famous painting in the world spoke 2 me & i alone in the Louvre heard her! And would u like 2 know what pearl of wisdom she shared after half a millenium of silence? Well, i don't mean 2 disappoint u but she only managed 2 utter these 2 lousy sentences; "Man, u r PIG-ignorant! Now beat it & let some1 with true artistic appreciation gape in awe at my unparalleled beauty!" And she said all that without moving her pursed lips (in english too AND with a hint of a Brooklyn accent, if i'm not much mistaken!)! Ok, not funny but that experience really did make me realise that, when it comes 2 art, my ignorance knows NO bounds! Having said that, in my ecstatic state of blissful artistic numbskullery i did enjoy an exhibition of works by romantic painters such as Turner & Constable many moons ago. Some paintings by Claude Monet have also made a favourable impression on me (no pun intended!). [This message was edited Wed Jan 15 9:37:17 PST 2003 by DorianGray]

Moonbeam said: I love this one by Titian. Apparently, he painted the entire canvas red first and painted everything from that red base. It brings a lot of vitality and life to the human figures he paints:
I love this one! I was looking for this pic. There is another nude portait I love, I don't remember the the title but I'm sure it was degas.

Lleena said: Flaming June by Frederic Leighton Pre-Raphaelite I just love the color in this one. Thankyou for this one. Out of the selection presented here, I like this one the best. The color, and especially the position of the woman resting is lovely. My second favorite picture is Moonbeams' Venus.

hmm...I'm trying to find some paintings of the artists whom I was reading about some months ago.
His paintings include doctors cutting open up a human brain and storage of meat.
