I watched it for the second time last night with the family and while it wasn't exactly as eye-orgasm inducing as when I saw it in IMAX, the blu-ray disc still gives me shivers with its overwhelming candy-colors and almost too fast to follow car acrobatics. A very fun film, critics be damned.
And my very positive review has nothing to do with Christina Ricci being cast as Trixie. I fell asleep during that one too, after a couple of beers How anyone can fall asleep during this epileptic kaleidoscope of a film, I'll never understand.

Definitely some laughs, but in this (as opposed to Borat) I felt he was trying way too hard to elicit responses from people. And often, I was not sure what the point was of the response he was trying to elicit. Instead of highlighting society's prejudices, he showed himself (with some exceptions) to simply be an agitator, and showed many of the "victims" in the movie to be very restrained in the face of completely inappropriate behavior. Moreover, the movie simply felt like it meandered. By about the 1 hour mark I was wondering how much longer I had. Cohen is brave, and keeps in character in very trying circumstances, but while I don't advocate violence, I might have liked to see him get punched in the face once or twice. Maybe I will look back on this with greater fondness, as some bits are better comedy than entire films wish Chevy Chase, but my initial response was underwhelmed. Not surprising, I suppose, since Bruno was my least favorite of Da Ali G show characters. my parents want me to send me the DVD of it that I have I don't know really if they are up to it yeah, it was more over the top than Borat. It really did have some funny stuff in it, but it bugged me that he was showing in many cases how normal people are and how annoying he is He's at his best with the ultimate fighting display, or the show biz baby parents, exposing how insane they are. But he made the swingers & the hunters look relatively normal. My Legacy

dance4me3121 said: Please rate the last movie u saw. Since my previous thread i have seen quite a few but dont remember all the names. Here is a list and rating of the ones i saw. ORPHAN 10/10,Trick R' Treat 10/10 Wrong Turn 3 6/10 The Hills Run Red 9/10 Taking of Pelhan 9/10 and i just rented Funny People,so I'll rate that later.
Orphan and Trick R Treat were fuckin' awesome. I was really caught off guard by Orphan's twist. Trick R Treat was pretty cool how everything tied in together, but at the same time were individual stories. The werewolves were a nice change. You'd expect vampires these days. lol Wrong Turn 3 was just one of the worst movies ever. Part 2 was pretty bad too, but Henry Rollins saved it a little. They said Pt 3 was too gruesome for theaters. It's just their excuse of saying too shitty for the big screen. Wonder why they didn't have that many mutants in this one? Last movie I watched was Tokyo Gore Police: It wasn't that bad tbh. 6 out of 10 looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

2012 - It was okay thought it did seem to have sequences where all they were trying to d was use as many special effects as possible. Also there were a few weak points in the storyline but nothing I wouldnt expect from a hollywood disaster film. With Love there is no Death

sextonseven said: connorhawke said: She must have fell asleep before the opening credits. True that. I just saw this one on Saturday, which is probably the last film from the festival I'll be able to see. ぶたがいた教室 (The Pig in the Classroom) The English title is "Schooldays With A Pig" It's a great little film about a teacher who decides to teach his elementary school graduating class a story about life by deciding to have them rear a pig throughout the year and then eat it at graduation. Of course they agree to do it because the pig is so cute and learn to love the animal even as it grows up. As it gets closer to graduation half of the class begins to protest about the fact, refusing to allow the pig to be killed and they continually have to vote on what to do with it. The kids learn about the quality of life but more so the life lesson of responsibility to others. I wouldn't say it's a five-star film but it was very enjoyable. The young cast were fantastic and it was really uplifting to see such an important lesson being aimed at such a young audience. It was also good to see many Japanese Australians taking their children to see it as I knew many of the kids would learn an important lesson about raising pets and would question the necessity of killing things for food and also know where the food on their plates come from. A bit of a slow burn but recommended.
