there is a line of peonies all the way up and down the property line at my parents' house. they belong to the house next door. i once got my ass beat within an inch of my life when my friend and i plucked all the bulbs off of them one spring when the neighbors were on vacation. we had quite a war of whipping that hard little bastards at each other all the way up and down the yard. neighbors got home and were not pleased. i hate peonies. j/k. but they're always lousy with ants. | |

ahhhh "look at all the lovely flowers" (MJ song)
For scent, yes gardenia is magnificant. Cherry blossom so pretty! I have a small magnolia tree with white flowers in my garden. Just beautiful. I love roses naturally but also red carnations, for their cinnamon smell. As we have wisterias, we shouldn't forget the golden rain tree flowers and of course the spectacular Jacaranda trees with purple bloom, indigenous to Brazil I think. I don't have a photo account so can't post but thanks for the pics.
