Let's Ask Number23

I know. I know. This is littleMissG's gig, but let's face it--she's busy lately!

And Billie(Billy?) has always sort of fascinated me that way. Some of you newbies don't really know Number23, but he used to be a lot like most of you--he posted his picture a lot, he smiled at the camera when he really didn't mean it, and he posted frequently. The only difference is that he is quite clever and hasn't been known , at least from my time studying his posts, to give many compliments--I suspect he hates many of you.

But what always struck me about his post, is that after having read them 2 or 3 times to understand what he's trying to say, cause his paragraphs read much like Fauxie's paragraphs used to (Fauxie's gotten much better at speaking 'common' colloquial 'org' English after the witches of Orgwick, (aka Alej, protege, InsastiableCream, 2the9s) got ahold of him. But I digress.

I'm going to ask these questions whether he answers me or not.

If he doesn't answer me, I'll answer them on his behalf eventually to keep this thread going.

Questions:

1. So you finally got your drivers license after several tries. clapping. Have you driven to any place interesting?

2. You have a low opinion of Janet Jackson. I have a low opinion of Janet Jackson. Can you talk a little bit about your low opinion of her? I love that shit.

3. Briefly describe the photowhore threads.

4. Why have you stopped posting?

5. Finally, have you ever used an alter account for shits and grins, or for other purposes?

Glasgow's awful weather, among other things, makes people bitter and cynical. It's quite a lively city for the arts though and has a great university so produces a fair few people like Number23 with a deadly combination of alcoholism and wordiness. To cut to my question, what do you think of Lady GaGa?

Glasgow has a great University? WHy is it so blue collar?

I notice the cities in the UK--even the slum cities, still have a certain charm to them. It's almost gothic. London was the perfect backdrop for the Zombie movie, 28 days later.

Shame about the shit food in the UK though.

For the record, I fucking love Lady GaGa. She's going to rule the radio airways one day. They've finally found a next generation Madonna.

Justin Timberlake is probably the next generation Prince. Or at least the post-Musicology nextgen Prince.

It has a very good uni, yes. My brother went there actually (he still lives in Glasgow - he's a journalist like Billy funnily enough).

What cities would you consider 'slum' cities? Growing up in Cheltenham I always found nearby cities like Gloucester, Birmingham and Bristol a bit nasty, but they're probably not that bad relatively speaking. lol

Shut up. Stop eating every meal at Little Chef. lol

Even that British meal looking mess served on your plate in KSR was probably terrible....and Thais can cook ANYTHING.

I swear, how yall can cram the equivalent of animal lard, cardboard, and the mashed reminiscent of what used to be veggies down your throats with nothing but doses of salt and gravy to flavor your food.....well.... Jesus weeps.

I will admit, your lips look really good sucking down that terrible mess. ky

You always know how to prick what little patriotism I have. Thais cannot cook western food for shit and you know it! Try ordering spaghetti here sometime. lol The place in Buddy in KSR is one of the only places I eat western food in Thailand because it's so surprisingly good. Roadhouse BBQ in Rama IV road is excellent too. thumbs up!

I love LOVE Thai food, but seriously, only maybe a good tom khao kai drool or possibly the perfect rice soup could touch lamb shanks with gravy and veggies. Too much chili wrecks your taste buds and before you know it you need oodles of chili, vinegar, fish sauce, sugar etc. to get any taste. wink Food is one of the reasons I love living here, but it's not exactly subtle and peoples' attitudes to food are very insular. You know loads of people would love Mexican food, for one thing, if they'd only try it. sigh

hmph! Like I said, stop eating in Little Chef. lol

America has wonderful food though. It's all about where and what you eat. You get what you pay for. Plus in America you have a selection of every other country's food. thumbs up! Food was one of my favourite things about the US so that probably just further supports your point. lol

Dude, Thai dessert means jelly shapes in ice with heaps of sugar. lol It's all good fun, but 'nuff said.

I think in general people have just become lazy with convenience foods, fast food, microwaves and all that. Thai food is the same now as people have been eating it for generations, that's the only difference. Not the case in the UK, unless you make an effort to cook properly at home or find good restaurants. My mother's an ok cook but one of my grandmothers was an awesome cook so I was very lucky. I could kill for some braised pork in gravy right now. drool Or as you would call it, eat it on top of rice and love it, khao kha moo. wink

I think British cuisine is getting better and better these days...but it´s true that most of the take away stuff is pretty horrible, and the old fashioned stuff is really a bit too fatty and heavy for me, but as I said, British cuisine learnt from its past and now some of the most creative chefs hail from Britain.

That being said, most of the food that the general public eats is still horrible (precooked meals from Tesco or Saintsbury that they heat up in the microwave confused ) but the good thing is that there is so much diversity in the bigger cities, so everybody can find something edible. lol

There´s a very cool fish and chips place right here where I live run by an Irish man, and, even though it´s basically just doublefried fish, it tastes delicious. Best fish and chips place in town.

Back to topic: I really miss Number23´s presence around here, he´s very smart and witty. Rarely have I seen someone who has such a way with words.
So,is he a journalist? Where can I read some of his articles?

And Nick, I agree with you about American cuisine...as bad as its rep is, the diversity and sheer abundance of different ethnic foods is just amazing, even though some of their products suck ( like most dairy products,American yoghurt and most fruit juices, but other than that...I really miss some of the things I tried while being there).
Jamie Oliver just released a book about American cooking. What I like about the Americans and Brits is that they are pretty open minded when it comes to other countries specialties and ingredients. They are flexible and open to change whereas most other countries, especially Asian countries, east European countries and Turkey, and most of the Middle East, they are quite conservative when it comes to cooking....even Italians, or should I say, especially Italians?
It´s funny because most of those places have a great eating culture with a long history and tradition, and the foundation for this was the cultural exchange and openmindedness to other cultures´ eating habits....these days, they seem to be regressing ( though they still make fantastic food) while the socalled Western world seems to open up more and more when it comes to food, cooking methods and new and exotic ingredients.

Frankly, it can get on one´s nerves sometimes, for instance when folks around here act as if they know more about, say, Italian food than most Italians but that´s a whole different story.

2. You have a low opinion of Janet Jackson. I have a low opinion of Janet Jackson. Can you talk a little bit about your low opinion of her? I love that shit.

5. Finally, have you ever used an alter account for shits and grins, or for other purposes?

First of all, it's Billy, not Billie.

1) Nowhere really, no. Is everywhere or anything interesting if you're interested? I'm not a philospoher, I'm an entertainer. I'm not the right person to ask that, I'm a silverfish. Liverpool's the furthest. I dig Scousers, the thieving, feral, paedophile bastards. The only species you can get away with generalising. The Cavern doesn't have a Bunnymen brick though, and that sparked something off in my belly. I had a fair wee drink inside me and wandered into a kebab shop nearby and basically blamed them. Fucking Cilla Black has a brick. Fucking Mel C from the Spice Girls has a brick. Jesus' infinite cunt, even Ringo Starr has a brick. Thankfully they couldn't understand a drunken Glaswegian slur, so just smiled and nodded like I was a smoking monkey. is there anything more profound than a smoking monkey? I like driving fast. It said tear along the dotted line on my licence and that's what I always try and do.

2) Janet Jackson? I'll not dig too deep and just say she's a whore to the shallowest rewards of infamy and the worst excesses of free-market capitalism. Just like all her brothers and sisters, father, mother, great-grandfather...all the way back to the first flash of lighting into that boiling pond. Only monsters are similteniously nurished and repulsed by Ruper Murdoch's wallpaper-paste spunk. It will burn through their bellies but staves off their disgusting hunger for our love and admiration. No intelligence or self-awareness. Certainly not an artist, of what i define as an artist. She and her production team create aural wallpaper for morons. A black and white picture of a monkey smoking a cigarette has more artistic credability than any of her earthworm party chord progrssions, ham-on-the-bone harmonics, her oh-so-wild-and-crazy-and-free-and-audacious-and-daring lyrics, her fat fucking skinny fat skinny fat arse. A demon. They'll look back in 2000 years and wonder why we didn't blast her family into fuckknowswhere in an Ark-like rocket full of our nuclear weapons and newspaper barons. A silver spoon, a child's balloon, eclipses both the sun and moon.

3)

4) I haven't, I just don't post anywhere near as much as I used to. I won't lie and say I'm too busy. Life's too long at 30, even. You cam cram everything great about conciousness into your teenage years. everything else is just repition, disappointment then an infinity or nothingness after the no doubt hideously painful end of your parasite existance. The truth is - the girl I live with thinks I'm as mad as a balloon of nostrils for liking Prince, never mind conversing with other people who like (or have liked) Prince. I don't mid being thought of as mad, but she tells people who tell other people...you get the idea. Chinese whispers, my hairsytle, two and two is eight in Scotland and I'd be burnt out of my home as a paedophile, or worse, a homosexual. I miss a lot of folk though, but like I say, most of my pals are not around anymore or they're just lurking wondering who the fuck everyone is.

5) No alters, I can barely muster the energy to go through to the fridge for another can of lager.

I actually really like her. She tries to hard to be enigmatic - that's something you're born with. Howling beasts deep inside whisper terrible things at whatever neurons are firing off as I hear her music, but against that more realistic and hard to please side of my subconcious, I ride the guilt of liking her tunes like a rubber cowboy.
