If I were single and cooking for myself, Hecks Yes. But because Im cooking for family, that would not go over well. But if your a poor college student, of looking to donate food to a homeless shelter or church, thats a great deal. Carpenters bend wood, fletchers bend arrows, wise men fashion themselves.

Some people living on a fixed income with kids would welcome a bird at that low a price. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! REAL MUSIC by REAL MUSICIANS - Prince "I kind of wish there was a reason for Prince to make the site crash more" ~~ Ben |

Yeah,I thought of that and that's cool..I just know that Bread and some other items are on their last leg (so to speak) when they get there,so were the turkeys any different? But you're right..it's a nice gesture for those on a fixed income and that's a good thing in these trying times..

Sure, and I'd accept the free ones people give out too. Nobody should be a snob.

There is a "dollar store" not too far from here that had a $3,000 scooter right next to the pixy stix... and across from the lovely $1 shell sculptures they had a $500 carved giraffe. I love that store.

Not to be rude, but, I say keep the $5 one and give the better quality to the homeless shelter.

I might try it.
I've had fresh off the organic farm chikkunz that were hella expensive and just as tasteless, so why not? Might be just fine. [Edited 11/25/09 19:50pm]

You also know that's my soft spot. Working with homeless kids has made me incredibly aware of how too many ppl cast their trash off and call it helping the needy. I saw something on 20/20 about a millionaire that shopped in the dollar store, I swear he was pushing a shopping cart and everything! I guess that's how he got so rich, watching his money.

Absolutely. It leaves more coins to set aside for foie gras or chocolate from Madmoiselle de Margaux. But then I'm a woman who has never had a problem mixing Salvation Army thrift store pieces with couture & Converses, so my answer shouldn't come as a surprise. I say brine that bitch, serve it with some truffle laced stuffing, and keep it moving [Edited 11/25/09 20:32pm]

Probably grown at some factory farm in China, is possible to get them that cheap or they could be loss leaders (Bad losses being written off). If I was that concerned ask the front people about them. If its a dodgy store, they could be stolen to order and selling them at such a price may be just be a sure ruse to get rid ofthe evidence quickly. Here in New Zealand, its hard enough trying to get a Turkey and anything under $30 forget it! So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Don't they have customer service in USA, its the law here, Sales of Goods Act 2004 and Fair Trading Act 1986. If they didn't provide an answer you could could openly accuse them of stealing it. Just because a shop sells cheap stuff, dosen't give them the right to treat the customers like ignoramuses So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch?
