The Prince of Egypt movie.

Anyone remember this movie?

Talk about ambitious. Back during the short time animated musicals were growing up somewhat. This movie did not have any annoying sidekicks or cutesy characters of any sort. I also liked the songs alot aswell and own the OST (though Whitney and Mariah's version of "when you believe" is poor).

In terms of 2d animation, this was pretty much the pinnicle, (whilst combining some CGI aswell of course).

When will those souless CGI cartoons take a risk like this film did?

This wasn't Disney LOL. Infact, it was Dreamworks, which consisted of Speilberg, David Geffen and FORMER Disney employee Jeffrey Katzenberg, a man who along with Michael Eisner, Frank Wells (R.I.P) and a few others, gave Disney a kick up the ass in the mid 80's. Katzenberg quit and formed Dreamworks with Steven and David, which has since been sold on I think unfortunately.

About time. I know Disney is goinf 2d again, with next months (in the US anyway), "Princess and the frog". Looks pedestrian, but at least its a step in the right direction. A LOTR type 2d animated movie woulda been great a few years ago, but nothing happened?

I dont expect Disney, or any studio that makes cartoons to be ambitious and brilliant everytime, but since Disney's 2002 mega flop "Treasure Planet", I see very little of anything remotely daring in Western animation. Just Pixar knockoffs.

Saw the new Disney Scrooge 3D movie on IMAX. The effects are freaking awesome.

Never liked that song much. Diane Warren is capable of much better.

Yeah, I knew all of those. Walt never liked to trace from previous cartoons, but once he lost interest in his animated features after world war 2, he seemed to let them slip by? At least, thats my hunch? "Robin Hood" is full of them, with a whole scene being just trace after trace of previous films like "Snow white" and "Aristocats". "Jungle book" has a couple aswell. I hate it, its cheap and lazy. Cool vid LOL.

The video covered all the major ones. "The jungle book" tracing "wind in the willows" was quite obscure though I thought, so well done to the uploader. "Beauty and the beast" tracing "sleeping beauty" is quite obscure aswell, but the makers of "BATB" said they just ran out of time before the films deadline, which is fair enough and its quite a minor offence. "Robin hood" tracing "Snow white" and "Aristocats" is so bleeding obvious though, particually as "Robin hood" came out straight after "Aristocats" in the cinema's. Pure laziness to trace the previous film you made (this was after Walt had died at least).

Disney havn't done it though, to my knowledge anyway, since "The fox and the hound" in 1981, with the exception of 1991's "Beauty and the beast", but as I said, at least the makers of that one had an excuse. The uploader missed out "the fox and the hound". I think a mere few seconds traces "bambi", but its very minor though.
