She was cover story in the Australian Review on the weekend!!! Yeah there's an interesting bit in the article about when Germaine Greer reviewed her on BBC arts last year. She said that she was "writing all about herself" which we all thought was bollocks and Emma was quite upset about. Fortunately all the reviewers since have disagreed with her. I love Germaine but sometimes she needs to eat her words "...and If all of this Love Talk ends with Prince getting married to someone other than me, all I would like to do is give Prince a life size Purple Fabric Cloud Guitar that I made from a vintage bedspread that I used as a Christmas Tree Skirt." Oh crap I just realised there was a primary school English teacher we all had back in the day who was also interviewed in that article. I think it might be the same teacher I told to go fuck herself when she told me off one day! We are just racking up these pages since we began 7 days ago!!! We may get us a sticky yet!
That's very cool about your sister connorhawke; that is an impressively long article for someone who thinks of herself as a newcomer. I don't really think anyone would disown the kid for being gay (talking about my cousin's son,who is therefor my second cousin). I just think that it would change the dynamics in his family if he too had a personal life and his sister's wedding was not going to be his major concern. His younger brother is autistic. I don't think the man has ever really taken the spotlight and I think the family still thinks of him as a boy even though he's 26. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

So do I! btw awesome sig And yeah....this thread took off way faster than the last one....it's missing the first few pages of random hilarity though Carrie can we please get a sticky for this? [Edited 12/1/09 9:37am] We are all on it so much it almost doesn't need a sticky. Nice to see some new blood on here though. I was beginning to think that there were only 6 of us that had useless thoughts we need to babble about. This was a great thread that you started connorhawke, but since I tecnically started this one I will steal a tad bit of credit. I have never had a thread of mine go past 4 pages, and that was under a different user name. I guess I think of boring shit to start a thread on. Meanwhile this fantastic thread DEADICATED TO BORING SHIT has taken off like a rocket. I wonder if we get many lurkers. I can't imagine lurking on this thing. Actually I only lurk on the "cut or uncut" thread 'cause I have no experience with being either and the men that I have been with(not many) have all been of the cut variety. So, I lurk. I don't know if what I'm about to write fits exactly in this thread but I somehow didn't feel like making a whole thread about it.
Anyway, I've been unusally active here the past few weeks and perhaps some might think I've been constantly complaining about my personal life recently. If those who "know" me here feel like I've been acting unusally here there is a reason: I've been unemployed for a month now without much luck with job-hunting although I'll soon be going to a job interview (Finally!). And the past month has been quite bad for the family. My sister's getting a divorce after 4 years of marriage and having 3 kids with her soon-to-be-ex. And my brother, who is only in his early 40s, has been kept asleep in intensive care since two weeks ago after having an aortic dissection resulting in rupture. (the aorta is the largest artery in the body) Now both my parents and I are afraid I might be at risk for something like this later in life. My blood pressure is normal I think (was at least normal when I donated blood two weeks ago) but I have a weakness for snacks and sodas and I hardly do any exercise. Of course, being unemployed I don't do much most of the day which makes things worse. Since my brother went to the hospital I can hardly open a bag of Doritos without getting the LOOK from my parents (I still live at my parents' place, yeah I know, I'm 27 but there's a deep recession so I can't afford to live on my own right now). All this has led to me having chest pains and getting hardly any sleep at night for the past few weeks, to the point that I went to doctor today and got a prescription drug to help me relax at night. So basically there's a reason why I've been acting kinda needy here over the past few days. [Edited 12/1/09 15:41pm]

While you are out of work perhaps you could try volunteering to keep yourself busy and distracted so as not to become depressed. Chest pains and sleep deprivation are not good signs.

I try not to worry too much, although I can't help it sometimes. What I'm focused on these days is getting a job and if everything goes well in the job interview tomorrow I might just succeed.
And I might start going for a walk regularly even though it's freezing cold at this time of year. There's a nice outdoors area in a walking distance from my home with paved roads for cyclists and pedestrians. The doctor recommended going there regularly for a walk and taking a long bath afterwards. He suggested this would help me with my chest pains, which are probably stress-related, according to him. If I won't get the job I might consider taking some courses, as I've heard there are some free or inexpensive practical courses available for those who are unemployed. [Edited 12/1/09 16:18pm]
